Sony NWZ-E436F MP4 player

(3 out of 5) by David Douglas Ritchie on Mar 15, 2009
I'm slightly disappointed with this mainly because it can't produce adequately loud sound levels with some headphones and music tracks, not as loud as my Samsung YP-U3JZW for example. And if you use the graphic equaliser the sound level drops even more. Also the "shuffle" feature is supposed to play in "random" order, which it does to a degree, but it always plays the first song alphabetically first, and if you select a different song while it is in shuffle mode it then replays all the songs you have just heard but in reverse order. Also it is slow to start up as it spends perhaps 30 seconds "building a library". The sound quality is good but not outstanding. I don't use the video function but the picture and radio features are ok.

Good Value Purchase

(4 out of 5) by The Horned Dog on May 15, 2009 (UK)
Simple to use, good value purchase. Decent memory, quality, function etc for the price. Only two minor drawbacks : can't delete items (songs/photos etc) from the unit, only using the software on your PC/laptop. And lastly, the battery can only be charged from the laptop too i'e doesn't come with a plug in charger or adaptor.
A good plus point is the ease of use to drag and drop files from your PC to the unit and back again - couldn't be simpler to back up your CD's and put them on your MP3.

Great MP3 Player!!!

(5 out of 5) by Mr. Rhys A. Curzon on Apr 15, 2009 (Manchester)
This is a great mp3 player: small, light, amazing sound quality and it has a bright, clear screen with good contrast. It's also extremely easy to use, to put music on it you can either drag and drop the music onto it manually or use windows media player to sync it up for you. Putting video on it can be more challenging, and in most cases the videos on your pc wont play on it (apparently syncing them through windows media player solves this but I could never get it to work.) But I just find it easier to convert them my self, if you need help with this send me a comment. On the other hand BBC Iplayer downloads work flawlessly without any converting at all so if that's all your planing on putting on, it's easy going. The screen you'll be watching these videos on is surprisingly good and is more than big and bright enough to watch a bit of tv on the move. Overall for the money, this is a great buy, and apart from the video problem, which is the same for most mp4 players, you wont be disappointed by this mp3/mp4 player.

Sony 4GB Walkman

(4 out of 5) by D. Pearce on Jul 26, 2009 (Suffolk, England)
I purchased this product to use on my train journey to work, which is about 70 minutes. I wanted a small MP3 player I could load a good mix of songs and spoken word books on, but had a built in radio to catch up on news and stuff.

The MP3 side of this player is excellent, sound quality is crystal clear with good base and treble. There are graphic equalizer pre-set by music type (Rock, Pop and so on) that are very good at enhanceing the sound also. Adding tracks is really easy, which is just drag and drop onto the player, be it with the free software or Windows Media Player. The screen is really clear and the video play back is excellent from MP4 files.

On the negative side the radio tuner is weak and on my trip to work is pretty useless, so if radio is a big feature you want included, I would say this is not at the top of the list. Apart from that it's an excellent gadget and anyone wanting just the MP3 player I would recommend this unit. Sony Walkman NWZ-E436FB 4GB MP4 Video Player with FM Tuner - Black
