Amazing Price and exceptional Sound!

(5 out of 5) by Benjamin Saunders on Mar 3, 2009
I bought this to go with my yamaha NS-P110 speakers and on first impressions the amp looks sleek and impressive a sort of retro/modern look. A word of advice though, if you want the best sound you SHOULD SPEND TIME CALLIBRATING THE SPEAKER LEVEL AND SIZE SETTINGS. For the small yamaha's select small speakers, +5 trebble, -3 bass and 160hz sub cross over freq. When using and xbox or dvd player select ctek A on the remote using the movie button for the best sound and have the sub on about 7 out of 10 with a sub level of 0 for ballance.

The amp unfortunatly does not offer custom eq settings, but however you are given control over BASS and TREBBLE and given dynamic range compression which is excellent for poorly mixed dvd's. However I have found that callibration and POSITIONING OF THE SPEAKERS BE THE KEY TO GOOD SOUND, along with a wealth of surround field effects you are also given the option of surround speaker position options ei you can tell the amp the speakers are high up behind you and it will throw a BRIGHTER sound at them so they can be more clearly heard, effect level (MIN,STD and MAX)and aswell as this THE ABILITY TO TELL THE AMP HOW FAR AWAY FROM THE LISTENING POSITION THE SPEAKERS ARE and if that wasn't enough you are given AN AUTO CALLIBRATION MIKE WHICH CAN BE TRI-POD MOUNTED IN THE LISTENING POSITION and whats more the amp will tell you errors in your positioning, so you know where to put the speakers for optimum listening!!

For an all round cinema experience you can't go far wrong with this, and for £150+ it's increadible value, and for CD listening head down to currys and get yourself a Matsui MATDVD3307 player and hook it up to the coax input on the amp and youve got yourself a pure digital CD/DVD player for under £30!!! hook it up to RGB Scart and your laughing, trust me.
