Sony BDPS550
After doing research on blu-ray players decided to buy this one. Certainly not disappointed. Picture quality excellent and so many features. Would certainly recommend.

Sony BDPS550 Profile 2.0 Player
I decided to wait for blue ray to evolve, and I am glad I did. This Sony player does the lot straight out of the box. Projecting on to an 8ft wide screen at 1080i, the sony produces very sharp and crisp images with no sign of artifactig. The colours are spot on using just a slight increase of the contrast setting. The sound is awesome both with the onboard decoding and through my Yamaha's decoders ( just make sure you look at page 48 and make sure you have correct setting for Audio hdmi ). So in a word EXCELLENT.

Such a shame...
I've had this product for 8 weeks and it has been great. I had purchased it because it has analogue outputs and I do not have an HD compatible amplifier, and I wanted Dolby and DTS HD sound. So far I have only used it with a digital coaxial cable to the amp (no HD sound) and it sounds good.
However, I only connected it with analogue cables today and found that I could get almost no bass signal. I called Sony but they claim they didn't know what I was talking about. However if you Google `Sony BDP-S550 LFE' it comes up with forum pages of hundreds of people who are getting no low frequency channel.
You can get around this by boosting the channel on your amp, but this is no good for me as I have other devices connected to the amp and the bass is ridiculous for the other devices.
The sound is great through the digital outputs, but if like me you wanted this to get HD sound through an old amp using the analogue outputs, do not buy this.

Dont Miss Out!!!
Wanted a Blye-ray player for quite a while. Had looked at loads of reviews and low downs on lots of different players.
This machine is fantastic, the price I got it for on Amazon was great.
Picture quality is jaw-droppingly amazing. Sound through surround sound system is out of this world.
I have Sky HD and the quality of the picture from my Blue-ray player beats it hands down.
If want your flat screen TV to look like a window to the world, get this player.
You wont regret it.

Quality from Sony
Typically Sony products are expensive but the quality is good and this feels no different, although Amazon have made it keenly priced!
Had no roblems since buying this everyhting just works how it should and it has that nice quality feel about it not just visually but the menus are user friendly too.
