I did a lot of research before splashing out on this set up. I was looking at the EOS 450 D with smaller lens, but when I held the two cameras I couldn't resist the huge increase in quality in the 50D. I am a hobbyist, but am doing an A level in photography as a mature student and have got into photomontage and still life. The 18-200mm IS lens gives me the biggest range without having to buy more lenses at the moment. I have only had it a week and have taken some good shots with auto settings. There are lots of buttons for a beginner, so I reccomend taking advantage of the £35 off voucher for the training days. An expensive toy for an expensive hobby - but what the Hell, I won't be buying another one...
