Superb

The colour rendition and sharpness from that large lens (in comparison to small compacts)in low light levels is something to behold. Intuitive menus, superb fully manual function for ex-SLR users, long battery life (from 2700mAhr rechargeables), quick opening up time, quick data transfer, quick focussing, nice weight - all add up to one exceptional package. It is a very big step up from tiny compacts in terms of performance, while still very pocketable. Ideal for the serious photoprapher who doesn't want all that heavy weight kit to cary around. Don't bother with anything else!

I LIKE IT AS IT LOOKS GOOD AND WORKS WELL TOO.

great little camera

Kendall on Jul 16, 2009 (Brighton UK)I bought this camera because of the 10x Optical Zoom - there is obviously a great difference to the 3x optical zoom I've been used to - I did however drop from 12mp to the 9mp for this privelage - not noticeable for me but my hard drive is grateful.
Picture quality is very good as expected from Canon the camera is very light and comfortable for general use - the body has a slight plastic feel the weight is all in the lens.
The Canon Powershot is great value general snapshot camera with a very impressive zoom-even with the digital zoom on top (15x), pictures were very clear - no camera shake.

Until now I couldn't take good photos with the manuel option but night shots or macro shots are very good. I bought the camera for its 10X zooming, and I am pleased with it. I think this camera is a step to DSLR cameras. There was a cashback promotion from Canon so I got 30 pounds back, I advise new buyers to search for such oppotunities, but that promotion was in may.
