I was fed up with not getting good close-ups. My camera was just not good enough so I wanted a better digital camera but didn't want to pay too much. This camera has proved ideal. I now have several good pictures of the birds in my garden even without using a tripod. I was able to take good photos of the church even though I could not stand very far away. I am very pleased with my purchase and am looking forward to my holiday. It is very good on power, it does not eat batteries like my old one. It is also easy to use although it will be a while before I learn all its functions!

Spent ages deciding wether I should go for this one or the panasonic. My brothers got the panasonic I got this and I made the right choice. You can just take simple snaps with it on auto, however if you get the time a want to be a little more artsy, then there's plenty of settings to create a myriad of effects! Buy it!

This has a huge zoom, loads of megapxels & brilliant low light, photographs & video (way better than expected ) for its price range. Compact , has loads of manual features as well as auto. So can be used by Amateur & pro with ease. Face detection & all easy to use features are there. Just flip up the flash when you need it. Video is very good, so dont need to carry my camcorder with it, as a big 8 gb sd card + this is sufficient as I dont usually shoot more than 15 mns at a time. Has Canons usual awesome picture quality, vivid colours. Great as a point and shoot, or for someone learning photography.I tested alot of zoom cameras n this price range, & this was the best in terms of zoom & quality of pics & flash abilities. Also I've had no red eye in any of the night shots of taken, whch is a problem with the compact cameras without pop up flash. The only other one with simlar quality results was the canon ixus 100 , but the telephoto zoom was only a third of this one , and costs more. I will be using it for hols & as back up to the DSLR. Its easy to get a small belt or neck case for it. Takes 2 x AA's which are available in any country. Very easy to use, very well made & high quality. Pictures comparable to a DSLR & sharp.

Having used this camera now for about 6 weeks since buying it from Amazon, I can say that it is an excellent camera. I have tried shooting in all modes and have taken some pleasing photos in different conditions. I am using a Sandisk extreme III SDHC memory card and this works well. I have found that you will need to use rechargeable AA batteries in this camera because it literally eats standard batteries in no time at all. My only niggle is the fact that you cannot alter the optical zoom in movie mode but other than that I am more than pleased with my purchase.

Great camera but disappointed to discover that the software is NOT compatible with Windows XP Pro x64.
