Best around for overall funtionality! Does everything easily.

This printer does everything it says it will, with minimal fuss and minimal set up. Easy to use and though other reviewers complain about the noise, it's an ink printer... it makes noise, it's not excessive and not any more than normal office printers. (Heard it can be set up for silent printing, but not looked, as it's not loud anyway)

You don't have to connect it to pc for photocopying and you have option to copy in colour or b/w at touch of a button. Prints from pc quickly, scans fine.

Much better than the newer MP210, no problem with the paper feed (common complaint with MP210 of paper jamming) & it has easy ink loading, comes with manual, UK 3 pin plug, sample photograph paper, 1 x b/w ink cartridge, 1 x colour ink cartridge.

The reasons it does not get 5 stars is because it does not come with a usb cable (but then it never said it did & any standard usb connecting cable from other machines work fine, just make sure it has usb on one end & one of those square ones on the other end).

That and the ink runs out quite quickly & is not the cheapest, but it is possible to buy cheaper ink cartidges than Canon ones, many others make cartridges to fit Canon printers, shop around, it also takes 2 different cartridge types as well, so you have a little bit of a choice (and as mentioned it comes boxed with 2 ink cartridges anyway to get you started, these are the newer design catridges).

Summary: Great, fast safely boxed delivery, easy to set up, effecient & user friendly, but no usb cable and expensive (Canon) ink cartidges let it down a bit, however, very minor points lost.

Still best around for sheer amount of functionality, ease of use, lack of problems & overall price.

Good piece of kit

Good value for money and fine performance as far as it goes. However, I have been unable to find a way of scanning direct into Word and for this reason I have not awarded it full marks

WASTE OD MONEY

(1 out of 5) by Mb Statkiewicz on Nov 2, 2009 (UK)
It broke down after 4 moths from purchase date! Wasn't printing much, still holds original cartridges (which btw are more expensive than the printer, and this one doesn't recognize cheaper replacements!!! be aware of that).

WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME

Study abroad....So far it works very well.

Wanted a full function printer/scanner for personal and school needs. My family has a Canon at home. So far it is fine. Amazon should announce in big letters that the cord is not included. I didn't think to bring one to UK from USA and had no idea where to find one. This seems to be a common but annoying practice of all printer manufacturers.

Amazing value for money

(5 out of 5) by Mrs. Deborah L. Wickham on Oct 11, 2009
I was impressed by the reviews for this product, and was looking for a cheap replacement for a consistently troublesome Epson Stylus DX4800. You really can't do much better than this for the money. Excellent quality prints, and the borderless function is brilliant. Documents print very fast. It is alarmingly noisy though! Other reviewers have said that it gets through ink too quickly, but in my experience, what printer doesn't? It lasts longer than the old Epson, and doesn't go all banded when nearly empty, prints retain high quality throughout. Also, super easy to set up, comes with a disc for Mac which impressed me immediately!
