Very Good All Rounder...

(5 out of 5) by Warren on Feb 8, 2009 (London)
I badly needed a new printer - my old Epson was doing all kinds of weird stuff - so I did a bit of research and found that Canon printers were being voted as having great photo quality printing and had cheaper cartridges than most of the competition..

I was originally going to get just a basic printer but when this model came out with a "cashback" deal I realised the scanner and photocopy functions might come in handy.. And they have..

It is looks fairly large for a home printer but probably doesn't take up much more desk space than my old C70 due to its quite cool square design. Feels surprisingly well made for the price.

I installed just the basic drivers on my Mac. The ink cartridges snapped easily into place - printer worked smoothly the first time.

Photo Prints are really very nice - borderless printing works great.. I soon used the small photopaper sheets that came with it..

Black and white word documents print quickly too.. as does the photocopier function..

I am also very pleased with the scanner which far exceeded my expectations - this works seamlessly from the Aquire menu in Photoshop and gave a much higher maximum resolution setting than I thought at 600 dpi - which is loads more than most home users will require.. Great for scanning in old photographs..

So a great value photo printer with bonus extras..

Canon Pixma MP190 Review

(5 out of 5) by Mr. S. Calderwood on Feb 21, 2009 (London, Argyll Scotland & Bangkok)
I used to buy HP printers - and still have a big investment in them. I bought one Canon device a couple of years ago and will not buy another HP! I have since bought further Canon devices and the HPs sit idle. The quality of Canon print is excellent, service good as is reliability. The photo quality of the MP190 is superb and the price good. The Canon drivers are also quite fair - and additional tools are available on the net. The downside with all inkjets is the cost of new cartidges. HP chip their devices to ensure you cannot refill. With the Canon you can refill them easily for a while, as long as you can put up with it telling you the ink is low. This is a small price to pay when the cost of a new set of cartridges is the same as a new printer!
So overall a small flexible and rugged all-in-one device with superb quality flexibility, and inexpensive to own, if you do your own refills.

Canon Pixma MP190

(4 out of 5) by K. Cooper on Mar 27, 2009
You can't really complain when a printer is *this* cheap! It was straightforward to set up, and the accompanying software is pretty intuitive, so printing photos and scanning is easier than I was expecting. And the novelty of not having to nip to the Post Office to do photocopying still hasn't worn off!

Not five stars, though, because you'll go through ink like it's tap water...

Great price, great all-in-one printer

(4 out of 5) by Mrs. S. Rogers on Jun 7, 2009 (Lincolnshire)
Great all-in-one printer, copier and scanner at a great price. Good quality printing. Have not had it long enough to see how long the ink lasts. But doing well at the minute. This was a replacement for a Lexmark and is far superior. Brilliant for everyday use. Very easy to use. The bonus was it also came with both ink cartridges which many others don't.Canon PIXMA MP190 All-in-One Printer, Copier and Scanner

Amazing value

(5 out of 5) by Dee The Dancer on Apr 17, 2009
My old HP Deskjet 930C is still working perfectly after many years (7 years, I think) but the price of the replacement cartridges was getting astronomic, so I was looking for reasonably priced printer either as a back-up or to replace it. As my scanner was even older than my printer and I do not own a photocopier, a Multi Purpose machine seemed ideal. After looking round and reading reviews, I settled on the Prixma, on the basis that it was so cheap that, if it went wrong, I still had the HP and I wasn't going to lose a fortune on the MP190.
In fact the Prixma is functioning perfectly and I am extremely pleased with it. One or two small minus points, the fold-down paper exit gate feels plasticky and loading the paper at the back of the machine isn't all that easy. But it works well as copier, scanner and printer, plus it comes ith an excellent on-disc manual as well as enough 'extras' to please even a techie. Setting it up for perfect printing may be more complex than with the old HP but the end results are much better.
For such a cheap price, this is a real bargain for anyone wanting a relatively light usage MFD
