great, neat printer

(5 out of 5) by Bookworm on May 2, 2009
i bought this after my very basic epsom printer broke. i really like this one. it is very nice to look at and unlike the epsom the paper slot closes to stop dust getting in. it has a scanner which is fantastic and a copier. it scans quickly and the instructions are very easy to use on computer and manual. I havent printed a lot out but the stuff i have is very good quality. it prints quickly, though it can be a little noisy if you are printing out your coursework at 3 in the morning but you cant have everything. unlike the four inks epsom have there are only two and i think they will last longer as they seem bigger. i've always had a problem with the ink in the past and this may be more expensive but i think it will last longer.
all in all a good, not too expensive printer. After the epsom this is a dream!
my work mate also got a canon for only £30. i think its the older model from this but he thinks its great too so perhaps if you want a cheaper one try that one or the CANON PIXMA MP190.

Canon PIXMA MP260 Printer - not the best of the bunch!!

(2 out of 5) by David on Jul 16, 2009 (Co. Durham, UK)
Canon PIXMA MP260 Printer

A quiet printer with good quality output, but this printer gets nowhere near the manufactures quoted speed. Every time you send a new file to the printer, it chunters around for about a minute, sounds just like it is doing a clean - I hate to think how much ink is being wasted during this cycling. Then it will decide to print your file, send a new file and you go through the process again.

This is why, unless you print a multipage document at one go, you will only get around 1 page per minute with single page files. This is not really acceptable.

This is my 5th Canon printer, but by far the worst regarding the speed and for wasting ink. My Pixma IP5000 does not do this and will print at about 3 times the speed of the MP260. Th MP260 spends most of its' time deciding what it is going to do, while the ink carriage slides back and forth for quite some time.

David.

Excellent printer

(4 out of 5) by M. Lee on Mar 29, 2009 (UK)
We have had this printer for about a month. It was bought for home use as a replacement for a similar Canon printer which gave excellent service for almost three years before developing faults. This printer seems equally good. We use only the basic functions of printing, scanning and copying, so I can't comment on the rest.

We have not yet exhausted the print cartridges, so I can't comment on life and cost.

canon pixma MP 260 printer

(5 out of 5) by P. Laffan on Jul 7, 2009 (Surrey, UK)
This printer is so much better than the epson that I had before. I cant believe it does everything so efficently for such a good price. It prints scans copies, can be used with a computer or as a stand alone printer or copier and can be used with 3 different sizes of memory card. It was really easy to install with the computer and the instructions are clear and detailed. The print quality is good for pictures and text. I'm not sure how long the ink will last or how much its going to cost to replace but so far I am really pleased with it. It looks really good too !!

Nice

Nice price, bought for father in law. I get no support calls from him asking how it works so I would say it is good.

With all these kinds of products though if you are buying so that you can print out photos think very carefully. the cost of colour ink and paper for a good quality print out will be huge as you will also have to pay for your mistakes..if you are going to do that just use an online photo store there are very many of them and they are mostly good.
