Great hardware, poor software, abysmal instructions

(3 out of 5) by Pingu on Apr 9, 2009 (St Albans, UK)
Or maybe that should be abysmal software and poor instructions.

I had to delete the printer drivers etc and re-install them on my Mac.

If you google for "Diplodocs user guide Canon MP620" then you should be able to find a web page from which you can download a PDF called Easy Setup Instructions For Apple AirPort Wireless Networks.

Armed with that PDF, it's a doddle to install the printer. It seems that Canon provide the Easy Setup Instructions in the US and Canada but not in Europe. Silly.

The printer works great, as does the scanner. The software for the scanner has a very non-intuitive user interface but once you've got the hang of it you can do great scans.

Canon MP620

(5 out of 5) by P. Langley on Feb 1, 2009 (Manchester UK)
Well what can I say about this printer, it's so easy to use it's just unreal. the downside to this printer is it,s fiddly to set up, you will need to allow 45 minuets or so don't get me wrong it's easy to set up just fiddly.Printing is spot on nice skin tones Black is Black and not a greyish back. The scanner is simple as well I've not done a lot with the scanner but I did scan some photos and printed them twice the original size and was very happy with them.Connection to my home wireless network was a breeze.

Great little printer

(5 out of 5) by Antony Cross on Jan 29, 2009
Great printer, bought for my wife to print her expanding collection of photos. So much better than the budget printer we have been using. Beware though, Amazons "frequently bought together" list has the wrong ink on it. Not helpful when you order without checking, then have to try and send the ink back.

Canon PIXMA MP620 Printer

(4 out of 5) by M. Harris on Sep 3, 2009 (Berkshire, UK)
The first of the next generation printer/scanners from Canon which can be connected to your home network. As well as the usual direct UBS connection to your computer the MP620 can also be connected to your broadband hub either by ethernet cable or WiFi. This enables you to print from a remote wifi connected computer, the only problem being that you have to go over to the printer to collect its output.
The set up and connection instructions are comprehensive and clearly laid out although it is best to read them carefully and not jump to conclusions as to what should be done next. There is also a separate manual for troubleshooting.
The print quality is up to the usual Canon standard although I am sure that the print speed is slightly slower than my previous PIXMA machine. My biggest complaint is that the MP620 will not do duplex printing which in this age of enviromental awareness is a big disadvantage.

Canon Pixma MP620 All In One printer

(4 out of 5) by Mr. T. Barton on Jun 22, 2009 (Brecon. Wales.Uk)
A very neat looking machine which is the first printer (it replaced a Canon Pixma IP420 which Ive given to my daughter) I have put on top of a sideboard unit. I normally keep my printers out of sight.
Loads up to print more slowly than its predecessor but does a great job.
Am very pleased with it. I doubt that there is better value for money in this type of printer.
