Prtinter dispatched on 5th December. Today, 6th January, it still hasn't arrived.Cannot get a respose from the seller by email and there isn't a telephone number to ring. What a con! I am very surprised Amazon lends its name to such sellers!

I received my printer with some trepidation as I have recently moved to a Mac computer and some reviews suggested that set up may be a problem. I'm using Snow Leopard OS and everything went like a dream; shortly after installation the system automatically sought out and downloaded the latest drivers making my input almost negligible. I have since set up a wireless system in the house using Airport Extreme and again my contribution was minimal; the laptop in my lounge "found" the printer and the two of them get along fine! As for the printer itself, it is fast (much faster than my old HP) although it has to be said that there is a lot of clanking and whirring before after after printing but I don't consider this a demerit. Print quality is excellent and I find ink usage is economical - five tank system so much better than two. Copying is good but possibly not quite as crisp as with my previous two part set up. I have yet to use the CD/DVD label printing facility so can't comment on that feature.

Took note of previous reviews before I bought the product and have to agree that the quality of photo print is outstanding. No problem on installation and it worked straight off. It copes easily with 297grm photo paper which my previous HP printer(s) have been unable to cope with. The self opening door is a nice touch (always forget to open!) and the duplex facility is is an added bonus. Unable to assess ink consumption/costs at this moment but looks to be a (much) cheaper option than previous. This printer will print on CD's, as long as you are able to discover where to insert the included cassette! All in all a good buy at good price and well recommended.
Great text printing, but photographs let it down.

I bought this printer on the strength of it's reviews.
It was very well packaged and looked really well made - a lot better than some of equivalent price. When the test page had been printed, I printed some text and it was of good clear quality, however, where it fell down for me was in the printing of photographs. They were awful. I printed an A4 size of my cat as a comparison, as I had already printed on A4 the same picture on my old printer before it bit the dust. The Canon one was nothing like the original. It was was very grainy and the grass was yellow instead of green, the whole thing looked "washed out" and fuzzy. I tried another couple of photographs using the canon photographic paper supplied, and they weren't too bad, although the colours were still not right. I print leaflets etc.using my own photographs, so the fact that these didn't print well on normal paper, meant the printer wasn't for me. I didn't even bother to try the photo copy or scanner functions, so I can't say if they worked well or not.
I don't know if the fact that I have an iMac with OSX 10.6.2 - "Snow Leopard" was to blame, although to be fair, it did work straight from the box, and I didn't have to download a driver from either Canon or Apple. I did contact the Canon help line and carried out a couple of their suggestions, but nothing changed. I notice from other reviewers that there have been problems with printers - including this one - and Macs/ snow leopard. Given that the majority the other reviews of this printer are 5 star, then I can only assume it isn't compatible with my operating system.
Full marks here to Amazon, as they took it back with no problems. such service is rare today, and very much appreciated.
I am still giving this printer 3 stars, because of it's build quality and the clarity of the text printing.

I spent days searching for a good, reliable, well made all in one printer, copier and scanner to replace an Epsom that lasted years before it clapped out. I was very impressed by the Canon Pixma MP630 from some reviews and Canon's own product features, however I wish I had looked further at the negative reviews.
The same thing happened to me as it has to many others who purchased this inferior product. As soon as you start the set up, error messages constantly popping up on the machine's display, 'inner cover or front cover was open - close it and click o.k.', despite the fact that all covers were in fact closed. These constant error messages prevent completion of set up and therefore making the entire product inferior due to software fault. As this is a duplicate problem that has happened to other machines, it is clear that Canon do not carry out any product quality control inspection on all products before shipping out to suppliers. The other thing I was not happy with was how loose and flimsy the mains socket was at the rear, but as it would not allow set up to complete, I was unable to actually use it and see if it was any good at all!
The only good thing about this bad experience was the excellent customer service from Amazon. I did not want to have a replacement, especially having read other negative reviews on this product, so Amazon arranged for collection and refund was through very rapidly. So all in all, thumbs up to Amazon and thumbs down to Canon on this inferior product. In short, keep away from it!
