A very decent new printer but a problematic product link
We were looking for a compact, smart, multi-function colour machine, and have bought one! It prints, scans and photocopies well. However, I am not intuitive about ICT hardware and even more bewildered by software, so the manual wasn't instantly clear. However, we are getting there!
The only criticism is that the Amazon website was incorrect in saying that customers who bought the machine also bought certain printer catridges. We followed the guidelines and bought a replacement - Canon PGI-5BK PGi5BK PGi 5 PGi5 BK - Black Ink Cartridge PGBL - that was far larger than the PGBK 520 we actually needed. This 'crisis' of course happened on a Sunday evening when a document had to be printed for an 0900 Monday meeting. Disappointing to put it politely. This is now being resolved with a refund, but that doesn't compensate for what we saw as misinformation. It goes without saying that I bought the correct spare cartridges from a different supplier.

the New printer
I recently had to buy a new Canon printer, the old one refused to work because the waste ink tank was full - there are apparently no instruction on how to make it less full so that the printer can get on with it's job of printing. Bad marks big style for Canon on that.
However my new Canon beastie is workign perfectly - it even has an automatic device which lower the works so that it can print without telling the operator how much of a numpty he is because he has left it up!
I am well pleased with my new printer - I can only hope it has a bigger waste tank that will preclude me throwing this one away as I had to do with the last one!!

Canon PIXMA MP630 All-in-one printer
Having read the reviews about this product I was keen to get one. Although the price is fair the machine is not as good as I had hoped. Print quality is good and reasonably quick, if "fast" is set as default. Photos are also good quality. Scanning is admirably quick and good. The downsides are as follows:- The product spends far too much "thinking time" and the delay between clicking "print" on your PC and a page issuing from the machine is frustratingly long - accompanied by much whirring, clicking etc.,as the machine prepares to print. I have tried re-installing the software, fitting a high quality connecting lead and other tweaks but to no avail. The other annoying factor is the automatic paper tray selection, which is a bit hit or miss, and the frequent paper jams and, or, false messages saying thet the tray is empty- try again. Next time I buy a printer I will ask for a shop demo. before I part with my money.

A typical Cannon workhorse
In true Cannon style this printer is massive! Don't expect to be able to pop it in your sideboard when it's not in use! It has a rear paper loader as well as a front one which adds bulk, I don't know why the front tray can't be multifunctional like the HPs. Photo print quality is good, but pictures on ordinary paper as part of a document are not so good. I've always had HPs, where the quality of all pictures is excellent, no matter what they are printed on, but as HP has developed some dodgy software recently, which kept crashing my computer, I thought I would try something else. In retrospect I am wondering whether I should have taken a chance with an HP, however this Cannon is easy to use, easy to install, I've had no operational problems with it at all, and I'm sure it will grow on me in time(but not literally, it takes up enough space as it is!)

Perfect choice
For a small business with various requirements it does everything we require, and is a neat unit for our small office space.
