Best printer I have ever owned

(5 out of 5) by D. Wren on Feb 4, 2009 (U.K.)
For the price the performance is really good. Scanner images are better than those produced by my stand-alone scanner. Automatic two-sided printing is amazing. It takes a little time to prepare for printing after powering-up but actual printing time is quite fast. Quality of colour documents produced on normal quality setting is good.

Peerless Pixma - Astonishing Amazon

(5 out of 5) by Swappers on Mar 13, 2009 (UK)
Having relied on Canon products for years [cameras especially, printer, scanners etc] I needed to replace a much loved and much used S600 having done the usual days of internet research on models and retail sources once again I find I cannot beat the range and service of Amazon. I plumped for Amazon after trying not to! Chose the Pixma MP630 which was the first to come up in their search engine. Showing as a 'special' on price I wanted to doubt the blurb but read the reviews anyway. Finally it seemed like a 'no-brainer'
I have to say that this machine is incredible value for money and the service of delivery from Amazon once again faultless. The printer copier scanner made me doubt the quality of the photo printing and as I am an amateur photographer this was paramount. I defy anyone to come up with a comparable machine to equal this in price, quality and efficiency. As has already been said elsewhere it was ordered by lunchtime and delivered the next day by 11.00am.(Beat that!) I actually don't even understand how this is possible!
It was out of the box and set up to print a test shot in under 20 minutes. The technology is now streets ahead of my old printer and there are so many options as to how to go about doing your projects from a basic 'one click print' for snaps to allowing the more discerning to play with the results without resorting to Photoshop! I cannot fault Cannon here and neither can I fault Amazon. First class product at a bargain price and delivery that frankly is bogglingly fast. Beautifully packed, easy instructions, simple to put together. Couldn't equal this speed of service if I had gone out to my local stores and bought it [where it was £80 dearer]
Highly recommended item. Strongly recommended supplier. Unbeatable.

Best printer so far

(5 out of 5) by Peter Mitchener on Feb 23, 2009
This printer is the best I have ever had. In the past I have always bought
Epson but I have now been converted. In the early days Canon were not up with Epson and HP but boy have surpast there best now.

This printer is easy to set up if you study the manual and a delight to use, the software provided is really user friendly. I will be buying the MP620 for my wife.s cardmaking hobby Canon PIXMA MP630 All-in-One Printer, Copier and Scanner

Good product but seems to be ink hungry

(4 out of 5) by IRENE FORD on Jun 6, 2009 (UK)
I DID try one of the new Kodak ESP3 printer/scanner/copiers before making this purchase as they claimed to use a lot less ink. Sadly I never got to find out whether this was so or not as the Kodak software refused to install itself on my computer and Kodak's help desk did not respond to my repeated requests for assistance - therefore I gave up on it and got a refund.
So, having read the reviews on Amazon (and elsewhere) I ordered this item instead and found it relatively easy to set up. (It installed itself first time on my computer - no problem).
The quality of the printing is good but I wouldn't say exceptional.
Photocopying is easy and straightforward to choose between B&W or colour copies.
Scanning takes an age on the highest resolution 600 dpi setting but results are generally good (although this setting shows up all the flaws in the original images - e.g old photos - of course !) Incidentally, I think that a previous reviewer of this product could not see how to increase the scanning resolution from the 300 dpi (much faster) default setting. The answer is to click on the 'Specify' option within the scanning options and then select either 400 or 600 dpi from the drop down menu offered.
Only one real area of concern with this product - it seems to be very 'ink hungry' - even more than my previous old Canon i865 model - and, of course, the inks are pretty expensive.
Still, I suppose it might encourage its users to be 'greener' and only print what they HAVE to print ?!

Hope this helps.
Irene.

Great product - rubbish Canon Support

(4 out of 5) by Joyce on Nov 18, 2008
Initial tests are very impressive. Great printer in colour and mono. As good as my old Epson R800 (when the Epson was new).

One 'funny' though concerning Scanning. The Manual says OPTICAL resolution 4800x9600 dpi. BUT the Scanning options only allow a MAx of 600dpi.
Someone is pulling someone's leg here.
Contact Cannon Support I hear you say.
Well, you try.
Round and round and round.
Try Faxing them I hear you say.
Good luck, their Fax machine has failed to answer in the 5 times I tried.

Great Product. Appauling Support. They should be ashamed... unless it's done on purpose?
