Very Impressed

(5 out of 5) by epsonpx700w on Jan 9, 2009
I can't be bothered to write a full review but there are a couple of points I feel I should make as i'm shocked why the printer has received so many negative reviews.

1. The reason the first set of cartridges run out quickly is because those ones aren't full- this isn't to con you, they make a point of saying in the manual they won't last as long as usual. Apart from which, I was grateful to get free cartridges with it- I went out and bought some before I realised it came with a set. I'll print mainly documents on mine so a bigger black cartridge would have been useful, but then again its designed as a photo printer so I've only got myself to blame.

2. Ok genuine epson ink is fairly expensive (£40 for the set), but if you shop around.. not sure if i can say on here but begins with e, ends in Bay? I got a full set of the genuine stuff for £22. Brand New of course. Not bad huh.

3. This is my biggest gripe- I can't understand why people are disappointed with the build quality. To me the quality is brilliant. The paper receiving tray will move but only if you move it! Remember its only function is to hold the paper once its printed. Most of the printer is glossy black and looks very classy. (think of the playstation 3 and its like that.) The colour screen is clear and the buttons feel quality. Without a doubt the best looking printer out there today- even the model above this doesn't look as good because its got a bulge on the top!

4. To the person that was having trouble scanning- If you try to scan to pc using the printer control panel then it asks for a cable. But if you use the "Epson Scan" program on the pc then it'll work wirelessly. Hope that made sense.

5. The photos I've printed on the supplied glossy paper look stunning. Absolutely exceptional. You won't be disappointed.

I wonder how many people will have read this far down the review? lol I hope its been of help- when I was looking at buying this I was put off by the negative comments, but don't be.

Easy to set up

(4 out of 5) by Jay L. on Dec 28, 2008 (Surrey)
Bought this printer mainly for the WiFi capability, and past +ve experience of owning an Epson. In my experience setting up anything on a wireless network is always difficult, but in this case the set-up on several computers (hard wired and wireless) was completely effortless (insert the supplied CD, answer a few questions, and it does everything else).

I agree with the other reviewers that the build is a bit flimsy, but not to the extent that carefull use will cause problems.

The print quality and speed are exceptional. The cartridges are quite expensive, and a recent TV review put this printer in third place for cost-per-print. Overall a great printer that does everything it says on the box

Epson Photo PX700W

(5 out of 5) by GODLIKE on Jan 13, 2009 (UK)
After reading the reviews this printer sounds like it had problems... OK yes the paper tray is only plastic but you can see it's not designed to hold 500 sheets of paper...
The printer is easy to set up, and its compact design means it can sit on a shelf and you would not need to move it as all the controls and paper tray are at the front.
The Photo prints are first class and with A4 borderless being sharp and colours being bright its ideal for printing photos at home.
If you like to print on your DVDs or CDs this is the printer for you... the loading of the DVDs and the Epson software just make it so easy....
This is well worth 5 stars its gives great results and with its ease of use its a photo printer that great for home use and with network and wireless... it`s the icing on the cake

Epson PX700W delivered 7th Jan 09

(5 out of 5) by Mick K on Jan 11, 2009 (UK)
Superb printer! Read all the reviews good and bad. My experiences have all been good. Fast clear text, superb detail on my photos, scanning the best yet. Some reviews mention the flimsy plastic dropdown draws and case as being poor. All I can say is if that is the worst thing I find wrong with this printer tough! Not a bit concerned about the build, everything else is so good. If you are reading this don't waste any more time buy it and from Amazon who gave me the best price and quick delivery.

Amazing piece of kit

(5 out of 5) by Rachel Stelmach on Jan 19, 2009 (West Wales)
I set this printer up very quickly indeed - the software takes a bit of time to load, but that's because there's a lot of it. Wireless networking was set up next, again very quickly [tip for Mac OSX users: if you've got airport and are doing this via ethernet cable direct with computer, turn off airport during the wi-fi setup or the printer won't be found, then turn it back on when it's time to add the printer in the Print and Fax setup]. I even had it doing prints by bluetooth just by sticking a generic bluetooth dongle it it, and pairing it with my phone. Ok, I'm quite technical, but I'm also one handed, so anything too fiddly would have been hard for me, but really, it was one of the easiest setups ever, I've heard other people who've tried to set up wi-fi printers having to resort to long winded discussion with tech support, but none of that required here.
This machine has got it all, wi-fi, bluetooth, print from memory cards or pictbridge cameras, it scans, copies, and will save scan to various formats, you can combine hand drawn greetings with images on memory card to create greetings cards, print out lined or graph paper, or paper with soft backgrounds and lines, print on CDs and DVDs. Considering the current price of it, it's really quite impressive.
I originally bought a Epson Stylus SX200 All In One A4 Printer but sent it back as it was DOA, and decided to get a better model and I'm really glad I did as the Epson Stylus SX200 All In One A4 Printer felt like a much older and shoddier machine.
Epson printers are well know for their ink greed, and I can't comment on how this machine performs yet, but I have another Epson printer and although it is a bit thirsty, the excellent print quality has always been well worth it, I've bought compatible inks and used Epson brand papers and always had very good results.
So, in conclusion, if you want a printer, scanner, copier that does everything and more via a range of interfaces, just buy it and stop reading the negative stuff, this is a really good machine.
