ok for the cash if you get one in working order.. 8/10
i brought this as a replacement for a fantastic epson r300 i have had for 4 years that as now died, so always go for top range epson printers.
this is my first ever all in one effort for the home - office and the wifi was the biggest reason i brought this. this is one fast printer and scanner and copy feeder. wants to take off from the table as it makes such a racket at speed when printing put i think this can be slowed down in the software?. comes with a handy memory card reader for (hc sd cards) also and a usb port for you camara to print direct.
only points i would say is only 4 colour tanks so for photos the bigger brother sx700w might be a better modal if you can afford it as its £50 more but you get better scanner and 6 ink tanks with the sx700. but for every day printing and scanning this as to be the best buy of the year.
i have also read reviews on this printer regarding the way it drinks the ink? but epson have given you a high capacity black with the machine.
this is my second machine this week from amazon as the first one kept saying paper jam in sheet feeder when i first installed it out of the box when there was no paper in the machine at the time, but amazon replaced the faulty machine within 3 days and i must say the second machine is working fine, so fully test item when you recieve it and if you get this paper jam fault with feeder contact amazon asap and have item replaced as you could spent half the day trying to fix the unfixable like me.
all in all a great buy at this new price and amazon are much cheaper than the epson's websites (shame on you epson) and any other online site i have looked at. so get your bargain from amazon and there always ready to help if things go wrong like my order did. 10/10 amazon for support.
i would tell you to test copy a sheet just in case you get this paper jam error on the sheet feeder if you do send it back, as you will never clear the thing and it just locks the machine up, same if you run out of the ink in any tank it will not let you do a thing until you install new cart.
0/10 for epson's own website for being so expensive on the own products..
as i found out, it can take you more than 10 minutes just to unpack the thing and a good hour to set up inks and software and test print head linement. so the reviewer who said 10 minutes must have not put his clocks back a hour or working it without a pc as it took me over 1 hour at the least.
came with some free glossy paper thanks epson only wish you would give us all a cheap usb cable as you never get them anymore with printers why?
anyway wifi is the point in this machine and the way to go, as you do not have to keep the machine in the same room as the pc, it works a good way from the wifi point. shame there not got wire free fax machines yet ? then it would be totally wire free. i also found the software disk might need to be upgraded online as newer versions are on the epson website.
i found it best to install the disks that came with it first to get it working and then upgrade online as i found the disk had a software setup only option to get it working that i could not find on epsons drivers online.
apart from rip of ink costs and the odd problem's i have had, i am still happy with machine. over all 8/10 good effort epson.

great printer but the ink cost prohibitive - print heads are now clogged
The wifi is a real pain to set up - but when it gets going it is fine.
The printer itself is not brilliant quality but not bad. The scan feeder is great and print speed OK unless you are doing pictures. My gripe like most Epson owners is the cost and short life of the cartridges. They are chipped so that you leave good ink when it says its empty and refuses to print until you change the cartridge.
Every time you turn it on, or change a cartridge the machine drinks ink from all the cartridges-you can use all the ink just by turning on and off too many times without printing a page.
Since writing this, the heads needed a lot of cleaning and then the black gave up altogether - got through a set of new Epson cartridges and still not a drop of black coming out - will return. Cost me a fortune in ink!

Brilliant printer
Really great printer and faultless in every way.
The inks that come with this are items T1001 (black) and T1006 (colour multi) (rhino picture packaged) these are classed as very high yield, there expensive but they they last ages and in my experience way better than compatibles as there false economy, you would get through 3-4 sets of compatible as opposed to 1x set of these.
Thanks

Disappointed with printer
Bought this on strength of previous reviews and price. Printer was a replacement for a HP D135 all-in-one printer. Had it a couple of weeks now and not really that impressed with it relative to the HP printer. General points
1. Ease of set-up - OK, relatively stratightforward to get my PC and two laptops networked/wireless.
2. Printing quality - Print quality is good on the fine and normal settings, but on the draft setting it's really poor/not usuable vs the HP printer. Only tried b/w and colour docs for printing: no photos as yet.
3. Menu settings - Most printers I've ever used allow you to set your own default settings. I can't seen to do this on the Epson. Ever time I set it to print at e.g. normal print quality (factory default is set to fine print quality - why? seems to me a way of ensuring you waste more ink), 2-print pages/sheet and save the setting under a specific name, the Epson defaults back to its factory setting the next time you wnat to print a document. So basically ever time you print and you don't want the factory setting you have to change the setting.
4. Shutting the machine down - each time you want to shut it down the Epson asks whether you want to save the 'fax data'. Bit frustrating having to answer yes each time you want o shut down, particularly since teh fax facility is never used.
In general, wouldn't recommend this.

Good for wireless networking
All functions seem to work correctly apart from fax, which I have no use for. Good quality prints. Nice scanner that picks up the original from atop the printer and after use, returns it to the top tray. You don't even need to raise the scanner lid! Prints are good in all respects. Photos very close to originals. You can print directly from camera card. You can also use your own images for watermarks, where the image is faded enough to accept text overlays afterwards. Special prints include lined paper and squared paper. The screen and keypads are positive and easy to use once you get used to them.
All in all, this is a very useful product. The only gripe - One of my laptops can't print large files wirelessly. But that may be the computer, not the printer's fault.
