Works Great

(5 out of 5) by J. Coe on Aug 8, 2009 (UK)
Very pleased with this product. My other half set up this product for me. We set it up on the main computer and then set it up on the laptop. It works great from both. Quality of print on both standard and photo printing is very good. Not set up everything yet on it but I'm sure it will be just as good. I have found that although it is advertised as a fax as well. This does not work from your computer unless you have fax software installed. I am yet to find out if it faxes direct from the printer. Even if it doesn't, I am really happy with this purchase and recommend it to anyone who doesn't want wires everywhere. I have it positioned in the hall and the signal is great from both computers.

Really good value

Really simple to use. Great copies. Linked to other computers including laptop throughout the house. Great facility of the fax, never had the facility before and used twice already. Quick printing. Scanning and photocopying facility very good also.

Its all good

Quick and easy to set up even if you don't know what you're doing just follow the step by step instructions. Slightly larger than a normal printer but takes up much less room than a separate printer and scanner

The Printer is slightly noisier than my old Epson d88 printer but a lot faster. Prints are top quality and so are the scans. Every bit as good as my Epson Perfection 3490 photo scanner.

As well as wireless printing you can also scan wirelessly by double clicking on the desktop scanner icon. If you've used Epson scanners before you will be familiar with the software this one uses.

The front panel is easy to use thanks to the inbuilt screen with easy to follow menus. You can do everything from this panel but I mostly use it for photocopying. It's so easy to load a bundle of sheets into the auto document feeder and press copy. So far it hasn't jammed even after 100s of sheets been fed through it.

As with all inkjets the four ink tanks aren't exactly cheap but they do last longer than my previous printer and because its durabrite ink it doesn't smudge or fade and it gives great results on the cheapest of paper.

An unexpected benefit with this printer is network attached storage, insert a memory card or USB flash drive into the printer and they can be accessed wirelessly. Go to my computer and click on the network storage shortcut to access the card. I copied the shortcut to my send to folder, that way I can right click files and choose send to memory card on Epson printer. Makes backing up files a lot easier and safer because the backup is in a different place to your laptop. Also very handy for sharing files or photos.

It's good, buy it but...

Don't expect to pull this one out the box and try and use it without the USB connections. If you want to set it up as wifi, you need to get in touch with EPSON direct. Also you cannot scan without USB so my advice is don't bother trying to run it on wifi. All other features are great.

Probably the most difficult to install printer I have had in 30 years

I bought this to replace a Lexmark all in one WIFI printer as that had proved to be a bit tempremental. With three laptops and one Desktop PC's I had the occasional annoyance of having to `add printer' a few times a month. With this monster about the only constant thing about its wirelessness is that I can print via bluetooth on my cell phone. Unless you are a retired Epson Printer Engineer I would steer clear of this `thing'.
