Delivery and design review only
I haven't had time to install this yet, so just a quick note to say that it was delivered very promptly and that it is amazingly small for such a large capacity drive. The USB cable is rather short though - just 45cm (including connectors) - so measure up carefully before ordering in case you need another cable or want to consider buying the docking station. Note to Seagate: at this price a full 1m (or longer) cable would be nice.

Make sure you get the right one!
If you have a Mac - this is not for you! Despite many peripherals being cross-platform these days, for this external hard drive there is a version specifically designed for Macs.

Pretty cool HD
If you need one of those, dont hesitate. Easy to use, nice design, 500 Go powered by USB, that's it, just go and get it

Neat little drive
This is well made, small and looks good. Add the docking station and it's a great solution to needing more storage. The case that comes with the dock is ugly, but the dock is great. Recommended.

Seagate 500GB FreeAgent Go Portable Hard Drive
Reviewed after owning item for a month:
Pros:
-Lightweight - weigh no more than an empty wallet!
- easily fits into a trousers pocket + cable
- no need to take laptop to work
- usb powererd so ecomocial for reccession
- currenly running to two virtual machines off it and it handles file transfer at 5400rpm very well without noticeable delay.
- nice light display lights up on it base - very attractive without being too bright
- have run it over 4 days without turning laptop off - never gets hot
- Manually hard-shut-down my laptop on numerous occasions and usb is unefected. Very reliable.
Cons: All these manufacturers claim 500gb but the actual count is always 465gb - they should be charged with false advertising, but after Bush corporates don't care about the truth!
Conclusion: Seagate is the best usb drive manufacturer and their products are high qauality and cheap. Only company that builds power management into their usb drives, though not needed for this one.
