Cables, cables, and a missing hole...

(3 out of 5) by Anorak Smith on Jul 3, 2009 (Preston, UK)
First off, Phillips screens are great quality as you'd expect from a 'name' brand. Thing is, I really want the wireless set-up they've shown on the box as that looks fantastic, in reality what you get is a maze of cables as mentioned previously.

Also, there's a design flaw with the 'pouch' which holds the player, the holes in the pouch (or the inputs on the player) are just in the wrong place. With the player in place as per instructions, with the inputs on the left, the hole on the right of the pouch enables access to the 'open' button which is frankly pointless as you can't open the player in the pouch. The on/off switch which is obviously necessary for the operation of the device is inaccessible at the top of the player. Maybe I've got a duff pouch, but I'd expect this to have been spotted by Phillips and sorted.

Quiet kids, happy journey!

(4 out of 5) by Sarah A on Jun 7, 2009 (Channel Islands)
We bought this for our holiday and boy, we're glad we did. 4 hours of total bliss for the boys in the back.

A couple of downers though. There are lots of leads and this can look messy - we used cable tidies and this did help. Another is that once the player is all strapped you cannot change the dvd unless you undo the whole thing. Also it is very hard to find the on/off button when it is in the case.

Overall though, we would thoroughly recommend it.

Great Product - messy wiring

(4 out of 5) by Mr. Jonathan Bradley on Jun 12, 2009 (Sheffield, UK)
Bought this DVD player to use mainly in the car because I liked the separate twin screens and the extra flexibility they gave. Image quality is as good as would be expected on this kind of device (decent but it won't blow you away!). Sound is punchy once you stick it through the car stereo but even on the internal speakers it's not bad. Price was good.

My only gripe is the cabling. To connect the player to the two screens and the power means it's a real web of wires. I suppose if I properly set it all up at the beginning of a journey I could tuck things away but there's still more cables trailing around than with a more standard portably DVD player.

However, I think the plusses outweigh that minus.

Sanity

(5 out of 5) by Andy on Aug 13, 2009 (London)
Just back from a road trip to Southwest France and we ALL enjoyed the journey. Cables shmables - it's Philips, it's well made, it doesn't skip and jump, it looks good. You need to buy headphones separately (an oversight from this well respected company)

Very disappointing

(1 out of 5) by Mr. Steven Wimpenny on Jul 21, 2009
We bought this unit last summer to take the pain out of a long journey to France. The unit stopped working after one day causing significant disappointment all round.
I was particularly fed up since I thought a Philips model might be more reliable than some of the other unknown brands available.
Although it looks great on the images, when installed it is very messy with wires everywhere and difficult to use, in particular changing a DVD.
I got a refund when we got back, but it overall really fed up with this.
