excellent value for money

(4 out of 5) by David Clarke on Oct 12, 2008 (UK)
Ive had this TV now for little over 2 days and have found it to be excellent, I have hooked a ps3 up to it and also watched a couple of blu-ray films. The black levels and colour are all good and unlike other TV sets I have owned I have not needed to change the picture settings as the "standard" settings are just right out of the box. The resoulution of the screen itself is 1366x768 but dispite this it will accept a 1080P signal from the ps3. all in all a very good set and at this price an excellent bargin as well, would recomend to anyone looking to pick up a good but cheap HDTV.

Great picture, OK sound

(5 out of 5) by C. J. Hicks on Oct 17, 2008 (Essex)
This is our first LCD TV, so I'm no expert. The picture quality from freeview and DVD is fantastic. Setup was virtually automatic, and so far the default picture settings have been fine. I've read some other reviews which state sound is the one weaker area with this set, but it seems OK to me, not amazing but fine. The one thing I don't like is the EPG doesn't have a picture insert.
Very pleased with this purchase.

Sony quality at a reasonable price

(4 out of 5) by Paul Thomas on Feb 3, 2009 (Telford UK)
When selecting a LCD TV there are countless manufacturers around and within each manufacturers range there are several versions of the same size TV. Sony is no exception to this - like the 32D or 32L or 32V and more.
Each has its subtle difference such as number of inputs etc which can make choosing difficult - especially as there can be a temptation to spend £100 more on a higher spec model that has more features but most people won't need them. I consider Sony and Panasonic to be leaders in the "affordable " range of LCD TV's.Key to my buying choice is the contrast ratio- which ,in simple terms , defines the contrast in the black colour. With this particular TV you get the Sony brand a good contrast ratio and all the features most will want.It has proven Bravia engine technology which gives excellent picture quality. All at an affordable price.

SONY LCD TV KDL-32L4000

(3 out of 5) by LUKAS on Jan 28, 2009
I bought the Sony 32L4000 at Christmas 08. It's a great looking television, very well constructed and nicely designed - contemporary matt dark gray finish. However, once switched on, I immediately became aware of a general absence of certain hues in the picture, with unrealistic beige flesh tones. Dissatisfied, I started to research other Sony 32" LCD in a similar price bracket. I then decided to purchase the 32V4000. On opening the box of the 32V4000 I was immediately aware of it's physical inferiority in comparison to the 32L4000. The so called 'piano finish' is poor, very plastic looking, the tension of the screws holding the casing in place are visible as indentations in the thin plastic surround. However, when I switched it on I saw that the picture was clearly superior to the 32L4000, beautiful contrast, tone and a subtlety of colour ascent in the 32L4000. I decided to return the 32L4000 and put up with the poor physical appearance of the 32V4000 for it's fantastic picture (great sound too).
