Large Zoom, Compact Camera
Light, compact digital with 18x zoom ideal for one who is not technically minded. A good base to start learning, while taking some good holiday snaps. A very good price for this standard of camera. Looks and feels more like an SLR.

Another Panasonic disappointment
I was wanting to upgrade from my old Fuji Fineix FZ4900 and so I bought this camera due to the rave reviews it received.
Well, I can honestly say in terms of realism and colour, this comes nowhere near my 7-8 year old Fuji!
Yep, it's got intelligent this, and recognition that, but at the end of the day, the pictures look washed out, over exposed, soft and not at all vibrant.
This is the second disappointment I've had with Panasonic as I also bought their TZ5 compact, and don't rate that either(see separate review)
Maybe my eyes just don't like the way Panasonic cameras make pictures look, but please, before buying, go to a shop and try this camera out if you are thinking of buying it, and make sure it is to your liking.

Good Pictures and Video but Bad Audio
I purchased this item after debating whether or not the SX1 was worth the price difference. The camera takes nice pictures although in sports mode even the slightest movement gives some motion blur but I suppose if you want to take pictures of moving objects you'd be better off with a dslr. The biggest let down for me with this camera is the video recording. The video is 720p and the picture is fine although it looses focus quite easily if you zoom in and out and pan, if you hold it straight and let it auto focus it's very clear, however the audio is absolutely utterly discraceful for a camera of this spec. It's mono audio and you can hardly hear people speaking even when they are a few feet from the camera, I cannot stress enough how terrible the audio is ,it's as bad as the audio on one of them dodgy 90's movies taken in a cinema with a video camera. At first I thought my hand must have been covering the mic but no, if you search forums you'll find that many others have also complained about the audio quality in the videos. My old canon a620 from 4 years ago has far superior audio which is a big shame in my opinion as the hd video was one of the main reasons I bought this camera. Why put 720p video in the camera with mono audio that sounds like its underwater?? If you don't need audio on your video then there's nothing much else wrong with the camera, however I needed video with audio I can hear clearly so thats why i'm giving it 3 stars.

Excellent product, thanks.
Despite being apprehensive about buying a refurbished camera, it has proved to be an excellent purchase. The camera packaging had been opened, but all the remaining parts were still in the unopened packaging. I could not see any marks on the camera, so was very pleased to say it looked like new. It was a present for someone close to me, so I needed to make sure it looked like new. I was not disappointed. Thanks for a great product that arrived very quickly.
