Sony RDR-HXD890 Freeview+ 160GB Hard Disc Drive DVD Recorder

The first recorder of many I have owned that actually does what you want it to, every time and without fail - a brilliant piece of kit.
My only criticism refers to the manual, which while very comprehensive might be rather daunting to the tyro. Its layout could be better, while description of some of the remote controls is not always as clear as it might be; for instance, the ins & outs of the TV/DVD changeover button are better deduced from experiment, rather than by reading the book!

well impressed
recording programmes is so simple
pause tv just like sky box does
great for listening to music through surround sound, it even has a music folder mines now got lots of mp3s in it, excellent substitute for stereo & piles of cds all at the touch of a button
also good for storing and viewing digital photos
USB port is good too, watch a Divx movie straight from a pen drive!

Great product. Sound and picture quality are superb, especially via HDMI.
Have no hesitation in recommending this product.

We purchased this DVD recorder based on Amazon's product profile and it does everything you hoped for. It's quite easy to install with a bit of patience, set up recordings and produces a great tv image, but does not arrive supplied with the relevant scart cable. The suggested ie " people who bought this DVD recorder also bought this", cable package is useless unless you intend to use a second tv, projector or audio component. It's all pretty complicated. Our advice is just buy the DVD unit and source your own scart cable. Nonetheless a great bit of kit and well supplied.
