I got this to replace my old home cinema system as I wanted to go Blu-ray.
Having looked at the Blu-ray home cinema options I narrowed the meagre choice down to this and have so far been pleased with my choice.

Blu-ray discs look stunning with the sound quality also being excellent.
DVD's also look and sound god with the upscaling appearing to give good results.

The sound has many options allowing you to customise the setup for your own room shape and configuration. It takes a bit of fiddling about but its worth it.

The iPod dock works well, with music being handled well and sounding good.
My only gripe is that the iPod video is not played throug the HDMI lead and a seperate video lead (supplied) must be connnected.
If video was through the HDMI then it would have got 5 stars for sure.

Having watched the recent Transformers movie on DVD and then Blu-ray I can say the difference is superb with the Blu-ray picture really standing out as sharp and bright even almost crystal clear if that is not overstating things!

I am very happy with my first foray into Blu-ray and am looking forward to watching some of my favourite films again as finaces allow me to get the Blu-ray versions.
So if you want Blu-ray and home cinema then this kit is for you.
(get the extra wireless rear speaker kit, its worth it!)

Purchased this unit last week but there was a whine coming from all three speakers which was very annoying. Got the unit exchanged at the weekend and was able to fully try it out. Thankfully this unit did not have the same fault and both the picture and sound quality is excellent. I read a few reviews about it and there was a lot of talk about the sound quality being poor, i found the sound quality as good if not better than my yamaha sound system that it replaced.
Good points - Fantastic sound, Fantastic HD picture, Easy to operate, Looks great.
Bad points - comes only as a 3.1 you have to buy the rear speakers and amp seperatly. it has got the wired output but you have to have a seperate amp if you use this.
Has not got seperate bass and treble controls you have to use the preset settings but these seem okay.
I would recommend this unit.

Well what can i say. Another fantastic product from Panasonic. When playing a blu ray feature the picture and sound quality on this machine is amazing. I purchased the 3.1 system and i have no intentions of buying the extra wireless speakers as i feel there is no need to as the sound produced is very loud and crisp. The dts hd and true hd sound is out of this world. Awesome product.

I bought the SCBT100 back in June 08 when it was difficult to track down. The first unit I had developed a fault in the first week where it kept simply saying 'please wait' on the screen. Swapped the unit over and it's been working perfectly ever since. Picture quality is stunning on Panasonic PZ81B 42" and sound was far better than expected. Sub woofer packs a real punch if you are not used to sub woofers ! DVD's and music CD's sound great aswell as amazing Blue Ray sound.

I disagree with others that the wireless rear speakers are not worth it. I got them in December (again having had trouble tracking them down) and the surround sound is excellent and it adds a lot more having 5.1 as opposed to 3.1 especially when watching Sky HD movies that broadcast in dolby digital (need the optical link cable).

Overall I've so far been really impressed with this product as I generally am with Panasonic.

Bought this from Amazon same time as my new LZD85 LCD TV. 3 (2 HDMI and 1 optical) cables to connect this to my TV with my Sky HD, and we have glorious sound in my fair-sized living room - not to say the TV doesn't give good sound on its won, but this unit adds so many dimensions and the bass is awesome.

Manual takes a bit of reading but after 3rd or 4th time I've got the hang of most of it. Lots of settings for those like me who need to tinker, and amazing sound quality. Have played DVDs and it works fine - no picture quality loss over my old Phillips DVD/CRT - if anything it looks a bit better (maybe the TV dynamic settings). Still need to check out the i-pod, blu-ray and radio but I'm not expecting any problems.

I'm not planning to buy the extra speakers - unless you have a room the size of a cinema they probabl aren't worth it; what I have already keeps the wife awake at night when I'm watching the late night film !! :-))
