Sony CMT-BX70DBi
Sound is okay but not a patch on the Denon/Onkyo systems at twice/three times the price. If you a looking for a CD/DAB radio with intergrated iPod dock this is hard to beat on price. My system is located in the kitchen which
is ideally where this type of system excels.

Outstanding performance. Big thing in a small package!
(9/10) I wanted something small but mighty to listen to my ipod classic through, while around the house. I considered many options including the bluetooth one that sony are doing (so I could keep my ipod in my pocket away from my 2 kids!), however I also wanted full control without having to leave the sofa (which you don't get with the bluetooth speaker#. To break it down...
The sound on this baby is more than ample, even for big spaces.
It's compact and stylish but not pretentious.
Set up takes 2 mins.
I've only ever used SONY sound systems and this is the best yet (size vs performance and practicality).
You have complete control of your ipod while it's docked.
The DAB reception is sparkling clear (I live on the south west tip of wales were nothing else seems to reach us).
I would buy this again and again if it broke. The only issue i would raise is that I don't really like docking my ipod in the manner that seems to be the only way possible (look at the picture) with all these systems. If something fell on it I suspect the connecting bit would break, but that's a universal probelm with all of these docking systems, thus 9/10.

Great all round hi-fi
This a good looking hi fi with good sound. The only disappointment was that it doesn't have a balance control so the speakers have to be evenly spaced but otherwise a good purchase.

"The Black Box"
Just recived this little unit in Northern Ireland from Amazon via courier two days after ordering it. I have also got a Denon Dab Hi-fi and a Pure Evoke 3 Dab radio.
The Sony CMT-BX70 itself is a stunning looking unit, with its mixture of matt and gloss black finish (very contemporary)and fits well with todays living.
Living in Northern Ireland I should be able to recive 21 Dab stations. Contrary to most reports on Amazon I can recive all Dab stations in my area without connecting any ariels. Not only that but the reception is without interference in any of them. The unit is supplied with a 1 metre wire type ariel that plus into the rear of the unit and needs to be extended horizontaly.
Without this ariel as I say my Dab reception in near on perfect alough my FM (RDS) reception is poor (can hear station, but with a lot of interference). Having said that, when I connect the supplied ariel (the 1 metre white cable I mentioned before) Perfect reception on FM as well.
For that reason I belive the supplied ariel is for FM reception and the Dab therefore must have an inbuilt ariel. Sony also supply the standard loop ariel for MW reception, which is fine.
The reason for 4 stars as opposed to 5 is that the speakers supplied alought quite powerful are cheaply made with no spring connectors at he rear for connecting speaker cable as on the back of the actual hi-fi.
This means that if you keep the spakers that come with the unit you are tied to the length of speaker cable they are supplied with unless you connect additional speaker wire to it with connectors which I do not recomend. Better to get another pair of 6 Ohm speakers and use them.
The Sony speakers supplied sound OK alough if your being picky they're no overly rich in the sound they produce and the speaker casing is cheap chipboard type. That said they look good and complement the system well.
In conclusion a great Dab,Fm,AM Hi-Fi for £120 and by a good, reliable maker (Sony), functionality is good, speakers are reasonable as long as your not too picky, full remote control as well as function buttons located on top of unit, classy looking unit, iPod compatable (alough may not charge all models), I don't have an ipod, so can't comment.
Would I buy the same item again - definitly

Sony Micro System
The Sony CMT-BX70DBi is a great budget system that can charge an Ipod Touch (mine is an 8gb 1st Gen)& give you complete control of your music. The DAB radio is great too. I wanted a system that moved on a level from the now obsolete cassette system to CD/DAB & Ipod, this does it. Nice clean design that looks great.
