JUST BUY IT !!
I bought this system to enjoy my i-pod music collection, together with the occasional CD. The DAB radio was a plus but not critical. I have owned several audiophile systems and appreciate the musical reproduction they offer. However, this is NOT an audiophile component but a capable audio system. No problems with DAB performance, even though I don't have the supplied leads fully extended. The abilty to navigate through your i-pod is slick. Add in the the Sony quality and the package is very attractive. Just buy one !!.
PS - well done to Hughes Direct for the excellent service and fast delivery.

Excellent little HiFi!
I've bought this for the bedroom and it is ideal for this. I wouldn't use it as a replacement for a real HiFi (in my living room I have the proper HiFi which is a pair of ageing but lovely Mission speakers, a Marantz KI Signature amplifier and CD player) but perhaps with better speakers who knows?
The speakers I would say are the greatest limitation to this little Sony system but despite that it still gives a rich lush sound. The convenience of charging and playing tunes from your iPod is superb (I'm using an iPod Touch with my Sony). The remote allows you to navigate the iPod menus easily. It comes with adaptors to suit all the models of iPod I've ever heard of.
DAB is something I rarely bother with and my experiences with other DAB radios has been that the reception in my area is poor (I live in a relatively urban area too!). Plus, why should I listen to Radio 4 in low bitrate mono which drops out without warning when I have perfectly crystal clear FM stereo reception available. The FM reception is fine with the provided aerial and the method for setting up to 20 preset stations is straight forward and easy.
It plays CDs very well, the sound quality being far in excess of what the budget nature of the small speakers would lead you to believe is possible.
The unit has fan at the back, which when I noted this during unboxing gave me some apprehension (I'm using the stereo in a quiet bedroom prior to sleeping using the SLEEP function) but there was no need to worry. I've yet to hear the fan at all and I suspect that it only kicks in when the unit gets very warm.
All in all an utter bargain for the approximately £105 I paid for mine.

Well worth the money
Received this hi-fi this morning and am delighted with it. I primarily wanted a system with DAB and the capability to dock/play my ipod Touch 2nd generation and it ticks those boxes plus more too. I am able to pick up numerous stations via DAB radio with the aerial enclosed, no problems at all with reception or quality. One function that I absolutely love is being able to play internet radio via my Touch to hi-fi.
Noticeable downsides so far are that the speakers do sound a bit tinny and the equalizer is very basic. A very limited amount of bass can be achieved. Also the remote control could be more user friendly but it may just be a case of familiarising myself with it.
Overall it's a brilliant piece of kit and well worth the money. A definite bargain at the price and I would highly recommend it for ipod Touch users especially.

A good buy for the price!!!
We read all the reviews on this and after a varied opinions, we just decided to see how our experience with the system would be.
Once it arrived being a female the instructions were picture based so were easy to use and it only took about 20mins.
I appreciate earlier comments regarding the aerial, it is rather tacky, however we recieve all the dab stations we require and even though it says the aerial for the dab is temporary and that you should replace, why replace it if it aint broke (l.o.l). We'll get one in due time, however we're happy that it sounds good, looks good & it meets the requirements of a modern system. .... the major thing that i'm still getting to grips with is the remote, all symbols and no writing, and you can't open the c.d drawer, without being at the system. Lastly a tip the silver trim is the button to open it.
