This product does exactly what is says on the tin. The instructions consist of 1.Plug it in and 2.Turn it on! It was that simple. Within two minutes I was backing up all my music and photo's. It's a bit more expensive than some other Models but I'm hoping that the extra money spent will be repaid with superior reliability.
Does exactly what it says on the tin.

I am not a hardware expert by any means (one of the other reviewers gives good advice on the various formatting options), but what I can say is that I needed a large-volume back-up option; I bought this on the strength of several 5 star reviews on Amazon; the kit is simple plug-and-play (therefore no traumas for non-techies like me); and it works very well. I'm very pleased with it.

Very good product. I bought it around a year ago, Primarily as storage for my windows media centre freeview TV. My computer only had 120 Gb so I bought this, converted it to NTSC (which was no problem, just find out how to on google) and plugged it in and I have had no problems since.
Very competitively priced and I would highly recommend this product.
I can't see how it could be better

The last time I considered getting an extra hard drive, a friend of mine started to tell me how to take the back off my main PC unit and connect another drive inside the unit. I ran away screaming and have only just summoned up enough courage to dip a toe in the murky waters of external/additional Hard Drives again.
So, first of all I did my research and then I followed the recommendations of other Amazon reviewers. They appear to know their stuff. This unit is so ridiculously easy to use that even I had backed up my entire PC in under 10 minutes, leaving a trail of redundant backup CDs in my wake. Just plug it into a USB port and it bursts into life, requiring no extra software and allowing you to drag and drop the contents of your PC in the way all PC users are familiar with.
If you have a billion songs to backup/carry around with you, take note that although it is 640GB, you actually get nearer 596GB to play with, but even backing up the accumulated files of my last 3 PCs has still left me with 520GB of spare space on the hard drive, so I suspect it's more than enough for the average user.
Awesome bit of kit - can't recommend it highly enough.
