Great System
We took a long time deciding which system to buy after our old sanyo stopped working and we are very pleased with our choice. Not only does the HX80R look great with it's stylish and sleek appearance, the sound quality is excellent. The DAB antenna suppiled works fine giving all the stations we could possibly want. The CD player works without any spinning noise and my new ipod looks great in it's dock. In our opinion another winning product by sony.

Small & Stylish
Was looking to upgrade to a DAB system so checked out Amazon and found this. It fitted all the criteria I was looking for although I did manage to find it for considerably less at argos item 0842471. At first I thought it must be a different model but no it's the same one. Anyway bought it last week and am very pleased with it. It takes up very little room, the sound is excellent, it looks good and the price was a winner. The final icing on the cake was that it works superbly with my Sony Walkman NWZ-S639FB mp3 player (purchased from Amazon last year) via the USB lead that came with it. I just plugged it into the front and within a couple of minutes it had recognised the machine and all the albums. It is therefore easier to keep this plugged in when it's not with me as I can choose a particular album or shuffle.
On the DAB side I've had no problems with reception, when I switched on for the first time it did an automatic scan and found loads of stations. The only criticism I would make is that the manual it is boxed with is pretty poor and you do have to fiddle around a bit to work out which bits you can work with the remote and which bits you can only do by pushing the buttons on top of the system.

looks good, sounds good, plays the ipod good
classy looking hi-fi that sounds great, plays and charges the ipod fine. Can't comment on the recording issues mentioned in the other review, we just continue to use the PC for that purpose anyway.

Great stereo, good value
I really wanted to purchase this item and researched it fully and thought this was the best value for money, only fault is that the speaker cable isn't really quite long enough and it is difficult to purchase any form of extension. Highly recommend this product.

Read the Spec Carefully.
I was really interested in this product until, I read the specification in depth.
Although it states that it provides USB playback and direct recording from CD, in practice it can only write to particular Sony Walkmans and not to any USB device. Also it does not provide the ability to record from the radio.
I have just bought a Sony TV which provides dual outputs for connection to HI FI audio equipment, but this system does not support dual audio input at the back. Instead it has a stereo in mini jack on the front. How dumb is that?
