To tall for a TV stand, Poor upscaler.

(3 out of 5) by T. Claire on Nov 17, 2009
Contrary to other reviews the upscaler is poor when compared to upscaling on a PS3. Also the main units height at 22cm is to big to fit into almost all TV stands.

My TV is a Sony Bravia 32w4000 and I personally cannot hear the difference between these speakers and the inbuilt TV ones when at low or medium volume. Only when the volume is turned up can you really hear the difference.

I would not recommend this product if you intend to use it with a PS3 or Blu-ray player, maybe look at the pioneer audio only stuff.

Sony dav-f200 home cinema system

(5 out of 5) by G. Elder on Apr 10, 2009 (Ballymoney co.antrim n.ireland)
This is the ultimate 2.1 home cinema system. My tv is a sharp aquos 42 inch lcd, a fantastic tv. So when it came to buying a home cinema system the sharp 2.1 with tallboy speakers was the obvious choice. Right? Wrong! What an absolute piece of crap. Nuff said. So I checked reviews online & the Sony 2.1 system kept popping up. Word of mouth can't be wrong! This system is awesome. A fantastic looking upright dvd player that is so simple to setup, 2 upright speakers that will fit most tv cabinets/stands & a subwoofer that will blend into any livingroom. The dvd unit upscales your dvd's to 1080p, the 9 inch speakers & subwoofer boom out 400w of sound & there are 2 digital outputs so i can run my sky box & ps3 through the system with plaster cracking volume. Wish i had bought this system first. 10/10!

Top sound

(4 out of 5) by N. Mills on Feb 16, 2009
If you want simple music playback and some atmosphere for your DVDs but with minimum clutter its a winner. Easy set-up, deep bass and simple operation. Don't forget an optical audio lead if you want to put your LCD TV through it.

Excellent system

(5 out of 5) by Keith R. Spragg on Feb 15, 2009 (Manchester, UK)
I got this just over a week ago, and I'm thoroughly impressed. The unit is very stylish, but doesn't compromise in sound quality.

The subwoofer really does a great job of filling the room, and gives the illusion that the small speakers are pumping out that level of sound. The DVD player gives a good picture on the basic Component out, but I'm looking forward to getting an HDMI cable and testing the upscaling properly.

Most impressively, the USB functionality has blown me away. The easy at which I've been able to plug my mp3 player (also a Sony, but also works from my external Hard Drive) in to the device, and get excellent quality sound from it was a joy to behold. A little fiddly to browse if you've got a lot of subfolders, but that's to pick a small hole in an otherwise faultless display.

Fantastic Sound: It Will Melt Your Ears

(5 out of 5) by Mr. W. Searle on Dec 28, 2008 (Kingston Upon Thames)
This equipment's resonably priced and produces excellant sound. When playing DVD's it upscales beautifully and the picture quality is suberb (use a HDMI cable for the best picture as this made a big difference to my set-up). I was also impressed that the DVD unit's flat and compact, just like an LCD TV and can be screwed to the wall below your television negating the need for a horrible rack to house a conventionally shaped DVD player (It looks excellant). The sound is crisp and the bass unit rumbles brillantly. This was particularly cool when watching Saving Private Ryan. It's like the tanks are driving through your living room.
