This is the nicest mouse-device i've ever used.
So, why is this better than a mouse?
Firstly - forget that RSI, wrist ache - the movement here is mostly your thumb, you arm stays steady.
Next - if you have someone who "shudders" when they try to click buttons on a mouse, this is idea - the trackman stays nice and steady.
Why is this better than other trackballs?
Other trackball devices require you to use your fingers, darn stupid that cos you can't move and click (making those devices useless for gaming)

I've had people complain that trackballs are not as accurate as mice for gaming, but I'm not normally a twitch-and-shoot gamer, I play MMORPGs (Eve and LOTRO) and rpg and strategy games and this is perfect, I feel more in control with the trackball than a mouse.

I started using a trackball due to a lack of elbow space when using a laptop on the move, you can happily sit cross-armed or cramped on a 'plane and still have full mouseability with this baby.

Yes, I keep buying them - prefer the wired versions for a couple of reasons - no batteries needed for one and, well, you dont *move* the device so having a tail doesn't matter the way it does for a normal mouse. The wireless ones i've had have suffered from "broken battery compartment syndrome", but the wired ones seem to last forever.

Why people use mice is beyond me - get real control with the precision of the trackball.

Type of mouse

(3 out of 5) by Mr. R. S. Marsiglia on Nov 2, 2009 (italy)
Hello, I brought this tracker mouse as heard alot about, i will state right to the point, this trackman wheel is ideal for games, and playing around with your windows, but i would not recommed for photo work like in Photoshop, i have been using this for 1 week and found the work even worse than the mouse i sed before, so i use this trackman wheel for games and is ideal, if any think to buy this for work/photoshop i would not reommend this, but is good for games.
Thanks

This is the best mouse you can actually buy for more reasons than one...
Precise, quick, no lag on the movement, no moving whilst holding the button, hard to do mistakes in drag and drop feature, ideal for movie & especially photo editing ( better than this there is only the wacom tablet for detailed work!! ) the only down side to it is i have the one with wire... the wireless is even better for commodity with the way i use it but is only a personal thing!!!

Best style of mouse ever

(5 out of 5) by Drak on May 13, 2009 (England)
I have had the Microsoft version of this mouse now for countless years, and I couldn't be without it. I recently brought a laptop and hate touch pads, with my trackball in I get all the functionality of a mouse without the need for a mouse mat, right now sitting on the bed I can type this and move the mouse as if I were at a desktop.

If you are new to trackballs it will take some getting used to, my parents for example hate it, so I have a cheap optical mouse for them. However once you get around the initial learning curve, like all other reviewers you will see that it was a curve well worth the learn. Stand up, sit, lie, any surface or non at all one of these mice will work like no other.

Personally I don't like wireless peripherals, had a Belkin once and the batteries were running out all the time, where as with this and a USB extension cable I can be anywhere and still be in complete control.
