SX200 Excellent Value for money

(5 out of 5) by Ms. H. Barnett on Mar 27, 2009 (UK)
I purchased this a month ago to replace my Epson CX5400, I am really pleased with it, was quick and easy to set up, easy to use, the print quality is excellent, I have only printed 2 photo's out but considering they are on normal card they are very good, much better than my old epson.
I would recommend this to anyone, a good value 3 in 1 printer.

AVOID GREEDY, WASTEFUL, EPSON

(1 out of 5) by Mr. J. Mccool on Jul 2, 2009 (devonshire arms)
You may well find yourself lumbered, as Epson are so keen to lock you down to ONLY their cartridges, that they keep changing the chip design - so you may buy "compatible cartridges" for your printer model, only to find that they are NOT compatible at all... And, of course, Epson have also chipped their own cartridges so that they CANNOT be refilled. Which, in this 'green' day and age, is pretty unforgiveable.

I think you should reward Epson for their greed, and for their disregard for the value of recycling... by avoiding their products. I bought an Epson printer recently, but will never do so again. When you are buying a printer check that you can get compatibles that really work - and which can be refilled. It's just a little thing, but it may even help the planet...

not bad....a few minor problems though!

(3 out of 5) by Lucy Dennis on Apr 6, 2009 (Gloucestershire, UK)
We've had this printer a few months and have had a few problems with it...mainly with the ink cartridges! We've tried using carious compatible cartridges...but none of them seem to work (even the Tesco ones which i bought with the printer.) We managed to get a few compatible cartridges to work..only to find a few days later they suddenly stopped working and we were getting messages saying they were now incompatible!...so i have wasted lots of money on various cartridges, only to end up having to spend even more money on actual Epson ones which don't last 5 minutes! (and are expensive!)

Another problem..if you use quite good quality, thick paper..it tends to get the paper jammed so you have to load up just 1 sheet at a time! (which takes ages if you are printing a long document.) It doesn't seem to do it as much if i use my horrible cheap paper! It's just the nice stuff it doesn't like!

Other than that, the actual print quality is good, i think it prints fairly quickly (compared to my old printer) and scans well. It's easy to use and for someone who doesn't use it that often it would probably do the job! I just wish i could find some cheaper cartridges that would work with it!!!

All-in-one printer

(4 out of 5) by Mr. Roy Lockyer on Mar 18, 2009 (Poole)
Epson SX200 printer

I am quite satisfied with the performance of this all-in-one printer. The printed documents and photos are top quailty. The copier is very good and quick. I am a PC user and Chair of a small charity. The SX200 suits my needs exactly.
I have 2 slight reservations, I jump out of my skin when the unit loads the paper to print, short sharp 'bark' from the inner workings!! I am also little concerned at the speed with which the black ink is being consumed. I print documents for Trustees etc and the resevoir seems to be diminishing quite quickly. Fortunately I can buy them at a reasonable price from Amazon!

Can't even get it to work

(1 out of 5) by Mr. C. N. Woodall on Jan 13, 2009
Bought this Epson sx200 from Tesco before Christmas 2008, and still have not got it to work! It loads the scanner then starts to load the printer driver and freezes, the screens say read the help, and the help has many screens on this topic, so it MUST BE A COMMON PROBLEM. Epsons' own one-line help is a complete waste of time, so am thinking now of cutting my losses and buying another brand. Maybe others should consider the same action. Colin W
