Epson SX200 - Tesco

(2 out of 5) by Railway Jim on Oct 29, 2008 (Caernarfon, Wales)
I bought the SX200 from Tesco a couple of weeks ago. Needless to say the supplier Epson ink cartridges lasted only a few tens of page (no photos).
This is not unusual, as most people know, that only a small amount of ink is put in the cartridges supplied with new printers.
I am not unpleased with the printer as a whole, but I also bought a set of Tesco replacement ink cartridges (T0711 - T0714) badged as E312 for the black and E352 for a colour set. These are marked as Epson T0711 etc replacements, but the SX200 (or SX205) is not listed on the label. These did not work with the printer. Tesco helpline did know of this and they(Tesco) hope to have a new version out in a month or so. They have offered to replace the purchased cartridges.
Thanks Tesco but once again no thanks to Epson for the chipped ink cartridges.

Great value all rounder

(5 out of 5) by Mutleee on Apr 10, 2009 (UK)
Print quality seems good though text printing speed is only average.
Scan quality seems excellent but it is the only scanner I have owned!
Look wise the epson's shiny black finish is very smart.
Overall I am extremely happy with this printer. For the money I think it is amazing value.
Delivered by amazon within 3 days off order - great service.
I'm a happy bunny!!!

Rubbish

(1 out of 5) by WhamBarQueen on Jan 19, 2009 (UK)
I brought my SX200 from Amazon, and it only worked 2 times out of 10 the first day and would make a weird crunching noise when moving the print heads when you switched it on. Now (day two) the printheads have become permenantly jammed up one and and making horrible grinding noises and nothing can be done. I cant even print off the Amazon return labels. Dont buy!

Great value/performer printer

(5 out of 5) by Bruce Michael on Jul 18, 2009 (Waterlooville, UK)
Epson have proved with this model that you don't need to spend a lot of money to get a printer, which provides excellent quality prints at an affordable price and thus allows you to print just for fun. This model has replaced my less than a year old Canon Photo printer that performed poorly and was expensive to run. The use of easily obtainable cheaper third party compatible inks for this printer make it extremely economical to use. The cost of my camera equipment exceeds £2k and consequently I am very critical about the quality of prints I produce. I can't fault this printers outputs, be they photos or copied documents. The bonus of a photo scanner and an excellent and simple to use copier (even my wife can use it unaided) make the this product amazing value. Well done Epson

Did everything I wanted in a printer

(5 out of 5) by Mr. J. S. Bailey on May 29, 2009 (Yorkshire, UK)
Researched all in one printer's extensively , mostly on Amazon.

This one came in at the right price with the right spec.

A feature I particularly like is the 4 tank system for black and coloured inks.

Before I buy printers, and lets face it a printer is now very much a throw away item, I research the running costs as far as replacement ink is concerned. Keep a printer for 2 years and you will spend more on ink that the machine itself. Thank god they dont make cars that are fuelled by printer ink.

The Epson came out as well as any on replacement inks.
