Style over substance?

(4 out of 5) by A. Nicholson on Feb 9, 2009 (Horsham, Sussex)
Had this now for a few months and it's a been a great micro system to allow the playing of CDs, iPods and the radio.

My favourite function is the USB port which allows recording of CDs and the radio (although I would have loved a timer for recording, not just as an alarm).

The sound is good and strong, although maybe a little bassy, but I rarely (if ever) have the volume over halfway.

My only bugbear is that while it looks nice, the touch sensitive circular dial novelty has really worn off and I tend to use the remote even if I'm next to it to make sure the volume goes up when I want it to!

Overall, I decent system and it looks good, although at over £200, I'm not sure it's the best value for money.

bass got too much

(3 out of 5) by AmazonReviewer100 on Dec 8, 2008 (London United Kingdom)
I posted a fairly positive review of this LG micro system about 6 months ago, and features-wise this unit is still good value. However I am taking mine back today for two reasons: the loud hum that it makes when on. It is extremely off-putting and can be heard over quiet passages of music, and secondly the booming bass that ruins some music, even when the least-basey EQ is chosen. I can't live with it, and will choose another product that doesn't hum and whose EQ settings are more intelligently programmed.
