Great value

(5 out of 5) by D. Grose on Nov 20, 2008
This was the first proper all-in-one surround sound system I bought. I must admit I was a little worried as my previous setup was a separates and sounded amazing.

But this did not disappoint at all! I have Sky HD and a PS3 plugged into it (for Blu-Rays) and they really do sound amazing. The speakers are quite small and you wonder how this great sound quality can come out of them, but I've had it up very loud and you don't get any 'tinny' noise at all. I'm very impressed and would recommend it to anyone who was thinking about an entry level 5.1 system. You can obviously buy better ones than this, but you have to expect to pay a lot more, and I would say that for the money you won't find a better sounding and looking system.

The only thing I would say about it is that the sub is quite big and I have taken it to -6 on the amp yet occasionally it still sounds a little too basey, I'm sure that's me though!

A major plus is the auto-calibration - set the speakers up, put the auto-calibrator where you sit in the room and press calibrate....then relax while the amp/speakers figure out their optimum settings based on where you would be sitting.

If you're looking for a 5.1 system and don't want to pay through the nose but still want decent quality sound then don't hesitate in getting this one!

Excellent piece of equipment.

(5 out of 5) by G. Blinco on Oct 24, 2008 (London)
This is an excellent home cinema system. The speakers are small yet very powerful and crystal clear, the amp has plenty of connection options with 3 HDMI inputs and 1 output to TV so you can connect a Blue ray player, Satellite receiver, DVD or PS3 with only 1 HDMI lead to the TV. With HDMI control the whole system switches itself on and off by using the remote for the connected equipment (DVD or TV). It is very easy to connect and setup with the supplied auto calibration mic. It has an FM & AM Tuner and connections for a CD or SACD. There is also a connection for Digital Media Port so you can connect an ipod dock and listen to your ipod through the 5.1 surround sound. Overall an excellent product and great value.

Brilliant Mid-Perfomace System

(5 out of 5) by Mr. J. Nightingale on Feb 20, 2009 (England)
The Sony HTSS-1300 is very easy to set up. It comes with very long rear speaker cables (8-10m) which makes it easy to install even in long rooms. The auto calibration mic is a brilliant feature and really enhances the surround sound effect. Playing PS3 games in surround sound really is stunning (the amp will except bitsream or linear from the PS3).
I was pleasntly suprised to find it had 3 analoug inputs (RCA) on the back allowing me to connect the PC laptop and mp3 player via 3.5mm jack to phono lead, Dolby Pro Logic adds a real depth of sound to music tracks.
I dont have a huge amount of spare cash so when i bought this system i was worried that the price would not be justified however for the sound quality i received i think it is worth every penny.
