Samsung HT - TZ315R - 5.1ch Home Theatre System

(5 out of 5) by Mr. M. Haigh on Nov 12, 2008 (Neath, Port Talbot)
Anyone looking for a decently priced home theatre system should consider the Samsung HT-TZ315R as it delivers good quality surround sound, is easy to assemble/set up and can be bought for less than £250. With my old system I was constantly changing the settings in an attempt to give me a decent home theatre experience. Having assembled and set this system up in less than 2 hours I put Saving Private Ryan on. This had been recently saved from SKY MOVIES and as I had connected my SKY+HD box using the optical in I was expecting some good sounds from all the speakers. Immediately, it seemed like bullets were flying round the room, explosions were going off in all corners and the rumble from the base gave the feeling of really being right in the middle of the action. I have not had to change any settings and wherever I sit in the room I can still experience the surround sound and distinguish sounds from individual speakers. The only down side was no HDMI or optical cables. I had my old optical cable and the HDMI was less than £5 anyway so I was still really pleased. Anyone considering buying a reasonbly priced home theatre system should look at this one. Almost all the reviews I have read recommend this system. I agree.

Samsung HTZ315R

(4 out of 5) by S. Noble on Jun 4, 2008 (UK)
Have now had time to play with the system and I must say, that for an all in one system, the sound is excellent. The set-up is easy and with the wireless option (optional purchase) you get a tidy black sleek package. Agree with the first reviewer .... very in-fitting, purchased next to my PS3 :). The one drama I have at going to press is that I can't find a Region unlock code for it! I would be surprised if that is the case, as Samsung are renowned for having remote control hacks for 99.9 of their systems. Anyone finding a hack, drop me a email on steve.noble@fco.gov.uk.

Impressed so far.

I have just bought and recieved this surround sound system and am putting this review in as an early warning for people. As you may guess it is not a major warning as I have still given it 4 stars. From out of the box the setup is time consuming but relative simple for someone with very little knowledge of this kind of device, although the instruction manual can be a little vague at times. The looks are great with everything in a sleek black with just blue accentuating lights when it is on that are dim enough that they do not distract from what you are viewing by glaring away around your TV.

Now for the warning, if you are thinking of purchasing this to connect a TV, Games console, or any other device you will need to purchase the cabling at the same time as you do not even get one HDMI or digital audio cable included. As you can see this is a little gripe and only worth one star dropped in my opinion, but listing it in the spec would have been no hardship for amazon/samsung and saved me time as I could have recieved them together.

Should you purchase this system enjoy and I hope you do not have any of the bugs others have reported.

super value...!!

(5 out of 5) by Mr. L. Williams on Dec 1, 2008 (Somerset, UK)
I bought this to go with my samsung le40a756 tv. Having spent what seemed like an age deciding which type of dvd/cinema/surround system i went for this (at a little over £200).
There is enough power in this system for 90% of needs, the bass is excellent, connectivity able enough for what i need. The cables are plenty long enough, possibly too long for my small lounge..lol. Very easy to set up and also easy enough to 'play' with sound levels etc. The rds radio is also suprisingly decent aswell (shame its not DAB...wishfull thinking i guess)
The bluetooth capability is a nice touch as my phone has most of my best music on it. I guess an ipod port may be good, but as i dont have 1 it doesnt bother me.
I have it connected to my ps3 via optical lead, and produces great sounds, especially on gta and fifa, burnout paradise and a few others are good aswell.
The dvd and cd playing capabilities are superb, pics upscaling well and no probs with music either.
All in all i would very much like to recommend this product, and with prime delivery i had it in less than 16hrs!!

Superb System

(5 out of 5) by Matthew Webb on Oct 22, 2008 (Chesterfield, UK)
This is an excellent system. Very good sound quality and can be connected to your sky box with optical audio lead for great sound.

Setup is very easy, speaker stands are a little fiddly, but no rocket science needed. All in all, this does exactly what it says on the box and does it very well. Sub provides very good bass, and the satellite speakers are very smart.
