Had to replace my lost Casio Exilim, which I was very happy with. This one seems to be just as good and easy to use. It has a good sized screen and, most important to me, a view finder. In bright light, e.g. when out skiing, you can't see the screen to take pictures with. I also bought the case that is made for it, and I would not recommend it. It is supposedly made of leather but feels like plastic, and the wrist strap needs to be fed through a hole at the top of the case, which makes it difficult to take a picture. Get an Antler soft leather case from PC World or similar shops - much better all round

Purchased this camera a little while ago to replace our aging HP camera, which was becoming unreliable.
It is more compact and easier to use. Buy a spare battery though because when it says the battery is low, it's almost flat and needs replacing.
Pictures are superb, clear, sharp and the colours excellent.
Ours came without the software in the box. However, Canon service (01737 220 000) gave name and tel_no of company to supply software. Supplier was aware of issue of some sold IXUS 85i's without s/w and upon supply of Camera serial number, sent the software, which arrived the following day.
So excellent service seems to be available too.

I am a big, big fan of Canon products and I love this camera, it was exactly what I was looking for in that i wanted a camera I could slip in my pocket. Picture quality is excellent "macro" for close up detailed shots is impressive and the Amazon price is excellent.Treat yourself for the summer!

Was going to get something completely different, but read some reviews and instantly changed my mind to this camera - and wasn't disappointed. Its really easy to use, takes great pictures and is very nice & neat. Only negative was that whoever packed the box forgot to put the software cd in, but who uses the supplied software anyway?!

The 85 IS is a great little camera - easy functionality and great clear images. As is the way of compact camera the shutter time delay needs to be allowed for but hasn't been problem.
