Brilliant DVD Home cinema system

(5 out of 5) by Jeremy Ward on Aug 23, 2008 (Totnes, UK)
Ordered Friday morning received Saturday before 8.00am excellent service as usual from Amazon. Amazing value for money, excellent quality all round very quiet in operation, no hiss issues or humming which I had with a previous Philips system. Brilliant pictures with DVD upscaling and good sound quality when playing music from a flash drive. Only downside is there doesn't appear to be a tone control for Bass and seperate Treble when playing SACD's and usb drives but not a real issue (when using headphones) , but when listening with the speakers you can boost the bass though using the Dynamic bass switch. Also there is an optical and digital co-axial socket which you can use for another DVD player or Blu-ray player or even a computer. Everything feels well made and works smoothly. All in all an excellent buy.

Excellent package

(5 out of 5) by Neighbour Waker on Aug 7, 2008
Bought the product to hook the PS3 into as was not too happy with the feeble sound on the TV, have been looking for a unit with an optical input and have found the perfect one. Extremely easy to set up, just very surprised at the depth of the player, otr reviews said it was large, did not imagine it to be that large though. Fantastic product, works extremely well with the PS3 and HDTV, love it!
Setup was very easy however the depth to which it tests itself does make it drag on a bit, but definitely worth it.
Highly recommend this product.

sounds amazing

(4 out of 5) by andy on Dec 14, 2008
great piece of kit, sound is amazing, just like being in the cinema. pondered over buying this for a couple of weeks, but now im glad i did. instruction manual is way too confusing for me, but maybe im just gettin old!
i cant say ive noticed a huge improvement on picture quality with regards to the upscaling dvd player, but im not too bothered as i didnt buy it as a dvd player, but as a sound system!
the only other negative is my 2G ipod touch wont work on it using the USB socket. but again i didnt buy this to use as an ipod docking station, so still really pleased with the sound quality.
if youre debating whether to go for it or not, just buy it, u wont be disappointed!

Excellent Quality and Value

(5 out of 5) by John Read on Dec 12, 2008 (Hampshire, England)
This is one excellent sound system and very good value. You place a mic where you want to sit and it automatically adjusts the five speakers plus sub woofer to provide excellent sound. Its simple to use through a PS3 using a optical cable (set the DVD Player to the function "TV" and in the PS3 change the audio/sound settings to output to optical). Be warned by default Night mode is off and Dynamic Bass is on. Set like this the room will shake when explosions etc happen in a film. I live in a flat and with Night mode on and Dynamic Bass off the bangs are toned down but its still a good sound experience. Although I wont watch an action film after 11pm because I have a neighbour below and even in night mode the bangs are loud and cause bass room vibrations. The quality of the sound is dependent upon the film however generally it is very good at making speech understood over the background noise that low quality systems tend to make too loud. The only thing I find annoying is that I can't set the bass level manually or reduce the bass to close to zero when I want to watch an action movie late at night/early morning.

Room-filling, smile-giving fabulous fun - buy this one!!

(5 out of 5) by Mrs. J. Denton on Nov 8, 2008 (Orpington, Kent)
Bought this elsewhere, but after hours of researching other peoples very savvy comments on these Amazon reviews, went for this box of tricks (yep, paid a bit over, but just can't be doing waiting in for deliveries!). And you can't argue with this many 5 star reviews can you??

Honestly it was a dream to set up thanks to colour coded everything and calibration mic as others have said. No cables included however, so was maybe a bit inconvenient, but does give you the option to choose your own level of sophistication. So I have a Sony Bravia 50" LCD and didn't want to risk blurring and stuttering of fast moving images (more noticeable on bigger screens apparently) so opted for gold HDMI and SCART cables which pretty much doubled original cost of this kit, but considering the price not too painful actually. Money well spent imho for longevity and future proofing purposes(time will tell tho!)

Sound clarity was above my expectation, as was volume and the wonderful rumble from the subwoofer. Really gives a feeling of being in the action, very atmospheric, just makes you grin all the way thru the film (even the scary bits!). Superb value for money, look no further.

Can't wait for Mamma Mia to get released!!!
