great sound
Brilliant system. Fairly easy to install using the supplied setup mic. for the speakers and once you've done that Awesome. Me and the kids watched Transformers and they now think iam the best dad ever. The sub woofer makes the room shake(dont buy if you have neighbours below you).

Brilliant!
Ordered this sunday 24th August came on the 27th. Been looking for something like this for a while now. Been reading all the reviews thought to my self I have got to have it. Works brilliant on the ps3 & sky+ the only thing is I have only got one optical cable. Ordered a optical splitter box which come's with two optical cables just under a tenner from a different web site.Couldn't believe the sound when I played cod4 on ps3 I even ducked when a car blew up behind me! Plugged the optical cable in the back of sky+ and watched diehard 4 brilliant. Just remember to change your settings on sky to optical and stereo. Looked at it in comet and currys £179.99. Thanks amazon brilliant bit of kit.

Feel The Force
Purchased this system on the Sunday 2nd Nov 08 and rec Wed 5th Nov, 100% perfect from Amazon.
1. Read the manual, it helps guide you to setup the speakers and where to place them for your total home cinema sound system.
2. Its really easy, I got all the parts out and placed them where they needed to go.
3. I then unwrapped the cables and matched them to their colour on the back of the speakers, front side, back rear, front & woofer.
4. Plugged in the connections to the back of the DVD player, again all coded.
5. Turn system on and it will guide you through the sound setup, what this does is tweak the speakers for balance and power, I placed the sound check mic in the middle of the room, then its best to get close to the door and press ok to test system, I left the room shut the door while the sound configures, it takes about 3 - 4 mins and high pitch noise shoots around the room.
6. I bought 3 Optical Cables for my PS3/HDTV and a Splitter, all working perfect.
7. Put on your favourite film and sit back and watch, I put on Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith and my god! it was just like being back at the movie theatre.
8. Playing on PS3, you need to go into audio setup to change to optical audio, this then allows the system to go through the home cinema.
9. I tested Fifa 09 and if you want to get total crowd atmosphere, just switch on the TV setting on your home cinema (aka DVD player) and this triggers your sound for the PS3.
10. If you are using this late like I am having a young family it is best to turn the night setting on (easy click on the remote) this reduces the woofer base allowing everyone to enjoy the eve/night;-)
I have been using it for a week now and am still amazed by the quality.
In a Nutshell - HDTV (with Optical Out), Playstation 3 (with Optical Out) and the Home Cinema (with Optical out), I advise buying 3 optical cables and a splitter, one from the home cinema to the splitter main input, then channel one from the splitter to Playstation 3 and channel two from the splitter to HDTV. Its best to note that the Optical Cables do take preference over HDMI Cable therefore no sound will work through your system, with PS3 you have to go into the Sound Settings and change from HDMI to Optical and select the 5.1 channel for total surround.
No need to spend 250 - 300+ get this for £140 its perfect!!!

Unbeatable value!!
This is a fantastic system for the price.
Easy to assemble and setup, the cables are really long so no problem getting the rear speakers to the other side of the room.
The sound is excellent, and you can auto configure the system in literally a couple of mins using the self-calibration microphone that's included.
It has 1 optical input, so i would suggest purchasing an optical splitter if you plan to have more than 1 device connected. I've got a 3-way splitter and have xbox360, PC and Sky all outputting in 5.1! Beware though, if you're planning to connect your 360 via HDMI, you'll have to purchase the official cable rather than a standard cable as the microsoft one comes with the optical out.
Another advantage of this system, is the small size of the speakers. This was a factor for me as i didn't have enough space for the slim floor standing type. DVDs look and sound great with upscaling.
Amazon service excellent as always, and i'm chuffed to bits with this. You won't be disappointed.

Awesome value for money
Sony DAV-DZ260 - 5.1 ch - DVD Home Cinema System - Black
Got mine 4 days ago and the setup was very easy. Had the sound blasting through the DVD player in no time. And I must say, the sound quality is very impressive. Didn't dare turn it more than half way in fear I might wake a neighbour 5 doors away!
After playing with the DVD player and all the functions I looked at hooking up my other devuces (Sky HD, Toshiba HD-EP30 and Xbox 360). This is where the problem began. They dont supply additional leads to hook up the other devices and having only one optical and coaxle, you don't have many choices!!
I decided to buy a HDMI splitter, additional HDMI leads, an Optical Splitter and more optical leads. Now it works a treat.
I hooked the optical to the DAV-DZ260 and split it to my HD-DVD, Sky HD and Xbox 360. Also did the same with the HDMI. Put it on TV setting and the sound was truely amazing.
I've given this a 5 star rating, even though I had to go out and buy more leads and splitters, but well worth the value considering its older version is still £179.99!
