Brilliant Music with Magic Bluetooth

(5 out of 5) by Andi on Apr 26, 2009
This is a great mp3 player. I've put mine through the test and its fully lived up to most of my desires. The Capcity is good 8mb gives you plenty of space for putting music on at 256 and 320kps. I currently have over 1500 songs and 3 hours of video on mine. I have never had any issues with battery power or sound quality. Sound quality is far better than an ipod anyday of the week and twice on Sundays. As well as having an EQ it has several sound enhancements (though you don't need them on to see the difference in sound from an ipod) Anyone who is critising this player because of the sound platform sonic stage should be aware you dont need it for this player (or any of sony's mp3 players that were manufactured in the last few years). I use Windows Media player to transfer music and Media manager to transfer video (media manager comes with the player)I don't get on with the drag and drop feautre as it I don't understand how to get reliable album images tagged to my music. I use Windows Media Player to load and tagg art to my music and this works 100 percent perfectly. The Bluetooth Transfer is great and I have no problems, sound is smooth and high quality (for mp3). The Video does drain power, but thats also true on ipods. I did hope that i'd be able to plug the player direct into a monitor to watch video and use it as a video player but this isnt so (and isn't advertised as doing it so I can't complain) Overall I love this player and it goes everywhere with me

New Sony MP3 player

Sony NWZA829B 16GB Video Walkman

The new Walkman is greatly improved on previous versions, it now needs no software just media player and is very simple to load, the screen is much improved especially viewing outside in strong sunlight and the sound is just superb. All in all a great player thats easy to use, nice one Sony!!

Excellent to Use as a Standard Music Player

I was only interested in using this as a music player and after owning it for two months I have been really impressed. Easy navigation (alphabetical, by folder, or by artist/song/genre/year), great sound (good equaliser and surround options in particular) and I tend to use the genre category rather than playlists but apparently you can use these pretty easily.

I wanted a device I could use without software (I don't even link it to media player) and just drag and drop different formats in (mp3, wma, etc). The music and library updates are really fast (I am using it at 90% capacity currently). The battery life is also excellent but you may need to purchase a mains adaptor if you don't always want to charge it through a laptop. I'm pretty sure it charges much quicker through the mains.

The player was actually too small and light for my liking so I purchased a silicon cover to protect it and bulk it up a little which is well worth doing.

All in all a decent bit of kit.

Almost Perfect

Like many these days I've owned quite a few mp3 players and this is the best yet. Sony have focused on something strangely missing in many mp3 players out there. Sound quality.

Many have remarked on the sound being accurate rather than too bassy. The headphones provided are fine, but if you love music reproduction at a high quality buy some quality earphones and this player won't let you down.

I am lucky to own a pair of Shure 530 earphones and sound of Camille's Music Hole makes for such a joyess experience that I will forgive the fact that sony did not include an fm radio.

The screen is also a joy to watch. Unfortunately this player is not compatible with iplayer, whilst sony's latest mp3 player Sony NWZ-S639FB 16GB Drag & Drop MP4 Video Player with FM tuner in Black is. Before you're tempted to run off and buy that one (as I did), be warned that the screen on the NWZ-S639 is disappointely small compared to this player and the sound quality is not of the same standard (by some way i think).

It would have been nice if they'd supported iplayer as as the screen is fabulous and I also miss not being able to listen to the radio using it. However, if you're something of an audiophile then this player won't disappoint.

Great all rounder and is Mac compatable!

Sony NWZA829K 16GB Video Walkman

Small, sleek, robust. This player has everything you need from a modern MP3 player... and more!

To answer that nagging question that seems to remain unanswered on the web, or that which the Sony customer services fail to inform you, YES this gadget IS mac compatable and will function as an external hard drive.

In addition to this, those with Apple Macbooks - The Bluetooth facility is easy to use and Syncs up well with my v4.

Not much else to say that isnt covered in the tech specs.
Buy this, and you wont regret it!
