Generally very good, but a couple of problems

(4 out of 5) by Ian Townsend on Dec 16, 2009 (UK)
This is a replacement for an earlier review.
I bought the Panasonic to copy VHS to DVD and in general it has been simple to use and have given good results. Connection to a Panasonic Viera TV by HDMI cable was quick and simple. My only disappointment was that the HDMI Cable that I ordered with the VHS/DVD arrived several days later by which time I had bought one from the shops. I have found the unit easy to use. Most of the controls are intuitive, but some require study of the comprehensive manual.
I am particularly impressed by the HD upscaling when playing standard DVDs, and recording from Freeview has been simple and effective.
I have found the Panasonic very quiet, unlike some reviewers.
However, after three weeks of total satisfaction I have hit a couple of snags. Firstly, the VHS seems to be very sensitive to the condition of the tape, and will not work with even slightly substandard VHS tapes.
Secondly, I set an incorrect DVD play length to record a TV progranmme, and this totally confused the recorder. The recording failed, and after that I could not format new DVDs and could not find any solutions in the manual. I only solved this after playing a DVD, which seemed to cancel the memory.
It seems the Panasonic is working properly again now, but for a while I thought it had broken down with a software issue within the first month of ownership.

An excellent product. Really easy to use. Good value for money. Have actually brought 3 of these now!

Meets all my requirements. Quite compact and Easy to use with full instruction guide. Good, clear quality of recorded programmes. I had the previous model EZ45VEBS some years ago which also had the facility to insert SD Cards which I would have liked to have seen on this model as well.

Ordering and delivery service excellent from Amazon.
