Great buy, Great value

(5 out of 5) by Vuldoraq on Jul 8, 2008 (UK)
The most important part of any TV is the picture quality, and this LCD does not disappoint. This Panasonic handles motion extremely well, I watched the Wimbledon 2008 final on this TV and could detect no motion blur at all. On standard definition digital signal the picture is well defined, crisp and clear. It doesn't appear washed out nor overly colourful. On an SD DVD signal the image really comes to life even more, even close up you can see a clearly defined picture [tested using Samsung DVD-HD870 and QED Qunex HDMI-1]. I can only imagine imprpvements with an HD signal. The only downfall on this set is the blacks, which aren't as deep as some more expensive TV's.

The sound is average, two speakers at the bottom isn't the best arrangement and there aren't as many options as other sets give (only stereo or surround). The surround mode is good at tricking your ears into thinking the noise is behind you.

In terms of build quality this LCD reigns supreme. Other sets at this price look cheap and nasty, but this one looks like a specialist piece of equipment. They also include a cleaning cloth that won't leave scratches, so you can polish that glossy plastic to your hearts content.

Finally it is easy to set up, it tunes itself in for you and there aren't multitudes of annoying features to work through. Make sure you set the picture up properly at the beginning as the factory settings don't give the best image. Also there is no option to control the backlight level, they give four predefined levels, with the eco option an auto adjusting one. In passing the remote is clearly labelled with buttons large enough to press easily and is as simple to use as the TV itself.

Overall this TV has a sublime picture and build, average sound and features while being simple and intuitive to use.

fantastic lcd

(5 out of 5) by D. Kingshott on Aug 29, 2008 (wiltshire)
this tv is amazing! i have been after an lcd for ages, to go with my ps3. ive looked at sony, lg, phillips, jvc and many more in the 26 - 32 inch class. if you want to spend between 350 and 400 you have to try and stretch and spend extra on this tv. i got mine for 410 but even at 489 there is nothing else out there with a comparable spec. the picture is massively different from an analogue picture and the ps3 playing games or blue ray is like nothing i would have expected - mgs4 and gta4 look like your watching a film. the sound is fine, its deep and solid. its 10 times better than any of my old tv's but is obviously never going to be better than anything a home cinema system can do, but as long as your not expecting that then you will not be dissappointed.

there is absolutely nothing bad i can find about the tv. if you are swaying between 26 or 32 inch size, and whether or not you need 100hz picture quality dont consider it anymore, just get this tv because its something of a false economy going for something maybe 50 - 100 cheaper. youll just end up wishing you had this. as a bonus the tv also seems to be 1080p hd, even the operation manual says so, although im inclined to think that the picture just gets converted from 1080i.

Lives up to expectations

(5 out of 5) by S. Thurston on Aug 23, 2008 (Guildford, Surrey United Kingdom)
Did the research on a new LCD and this product kept coming back to me. In a nutshell, it doesn't disappoint. Out of the box the set looks the part. There is an auto set up (finding freeview channels) upon starting for the first time and the picture was impressive. Knowing what BBC1 looked like (using no freeview input) into my old CRT I was suitably impressed with the LXD85. Sit back and enjoy images which are vivid, rich and blacks are good. Plus of course it's sharp. Can't wait to see a HD signal some time soon. DVDs fair well, but I would say there is not any significant improvement (even using an upscaling player + HDMI cable comparing to my old TV and a decent scart). Sound is acceptable but nothing special. Recommended!

(5 out of 5) by Barfly on Sep 21, 2008 (Northern Ireland)
Very pleased with this set-sound is fine-32'' more than adequate for medium sized room and picture quality excellent.X-box 360 games have taken on a new life.Very happy to have made move from C.R.T screen-this set is much smarter whether on or off and very simple to set up.Remote control makes sense and tuning options all seem user friendly and intuitive.Thoroughly recommended.

Great picture

(5 out of 5) by K. Hinton on Aug 18, 2008
This LCD TV has great picture quality and photos (via integrated SD card slot) look superb. The sound quality is fine but not very punchy. The set looks good and overall is a great product.
