For my smallish room these were the perfect buy!

(4 out of 5) by Mr. Robin I. Smith on Dec 16, 2008
OK I've bought this home cinema set in the last few days from one of the electronics stores near where I live and I have to say for me it was the perfect buy!

I wanted a system for my fairly small room (bedroom) to go with a new tv and to get the 5.1 sound out of the xbox 360 I own. Being a relative newcomer to home cinema systems I found that to get surround sound on my tv and console i would require a system with digital optical cabling and research brought me to this piece of equipment as the best value for money system in its range.

I will say now that I am 100% satisfied with this product! The digital optical cabling (which isn't included in the box but I already had some so no cost for me) allows me to get 5.1 surround sound from both my tv and xbox which was my main motivation for purchasing, it comes with an HDMI port as well as scart connectors which is my primary connector as well as HD upscaling and a wide range of file extensions (such as mp3's, the ipod dock etc.)

When using the system, the sound is crisp and clear on mine and when linked in to my xbox it gives games such as cod4 a real visceral sound as if your really there and with 1000w behind the system it really brings films to life too!! music, films, games etc. all sound really good on the panasonic and the DVD player is a nifty addition with all the little features it has on it to explore.

Having read through this it seems some people have had problems with the cable length. Again this is more dependent on individual needs but in my room they are perfectly adequate for the length provided (about 5m for the rear speakers I believe) and I still have a fair amount of cable in slack. Of course if you have the cash spare you could fork out extra and get the next model up with wireless rear speakers.

So basically if your looking for a home cinema system for use in a small to medium sized room or are looking for a crisp, clear sound then this is the system for you. It is perfect for those looking for a system to use with a console as well! I give it 4 out of 5 stars and would give it the full five if it came with all the cables included which in my opinion is the only downside I have had with this product so far...

Best value for money home cinema system

So the speakers are hard wired and you may need to extend the cabling on the 2 rear speakers - but that's all!
This system delivers a thunderous sound even in quite a large room. Try watching Band of Brothers DVD. You'll think you are in WW2.
I have 2 small criticisms - which is why it doesn't get 5 stars.
1. there is no remote eject on the controller. You have to press the button on the machine.
2. The manual is appalling! They make what is actually a very easy unit to set up, sound as though you need a degree in electronics to get it to work.
But don't let these 2 niggles put you off. It's fantastic.

Loud!

(5 out of 5) by Mr. Matthew Smith on Dec 4, 2008
Excellent product. very easy to set up, when i got it going was very impressed with the sound. just tried it out on MI3 bridge scene and my room was shaking. have tried action, concert, musical and general dialogue films and it delivers in each genre. i find 35 a perfectly loud level of sound but tried it all the was to 50 and the house was shaking. ipod and cd connection is good but just switch to the music dolby mode for better sound when playing music (which is obviously what they had in mind for that feature). length of wire was more than adequate for me in a good sized room, although i ran mine under the carpet, but can see if you were to run the wires around the room via the side walls it may fall short. also have hooked it up to my 360 via the tv and it is great with that too. was worried dialogue was out of sync at one point but just turned out to be a very old dvd. would thoroughly recommend this unit

Excellent, so good I bought another!

Very happy with all the Panasonic range.Recently bought the Samsung series 6 and went for the SC-PT460EB because of the discrete sat.speakers and ipod dock.the sound is spectacular with all the bass and rumble you`ll ever need.Top end is crisp and clear and it all looks very neat and under stated.Speaker cable was not an issue(though I cannot see the problem) as I used my own cable to sink in the walls, then spliced the ends on.My wife who thinks speakers are ugly things loves this system,so we bought a second system to replace the existing panasonic we have with tallboy speakers. One bonus I didn`t expect was the FM/AM radio tuner/optical input. What a cracking little system for the money!
