NO 5.1/DTS ON PS3
Sure the system is good if you just want it for DVD's, but don't get it if you want 5.1/DTS sound from your PS3, all you get is silence!!!!! I'm sure the same happens with the XBox360. It also had a scratch on the DVD player. It's being returned back to Amazon next week!! Avoid!!!

Good picture, good sound, good features
Bought one on the basis that I was also buying a Panasonic Plasma TV. I checked out the Viera link information at the Panasonic website, and its a neat feature that allows single control from 1 remote. It also means that I can be watching the TV, and switch to having the TV sound through the Home Cinema without fumbling for the other remote, or buying an additional remote. Coupled also with a Panasonic Hard Disk Drive Recorder, and you have a very clever "all-in-one" solution - e.g. pause live TV from your TV remote.
Anyway, back to the PT460EB. Other points worth a mention - the Ipod connection works OK, but I haven't yet figured out how to get video working via an ITouch, but music works OK. Unfortunately I can't find any sort of search function, so you've really got to have organised playlists or well defined Albums/Artists to make this work easily.
The USB input is easy, simply load a music file onto any USB stick (limit of upto 3,000 music files), put in the front and off you go. It also plays WMA files, as well as MP3s. I cut a DVD of WMA files, and it happily played that list of music files, but unfortunately didn't seem to have a shuffle feature on play back, it plays in alpabetical order from the USB input - again, you'll need to have good playlists to get the best results.
Speaker cable - the instructions say place the subwoofer 30cm from the TV, but I wanted mine hidden behind a sofa. I measured the length, it was a 7m long cable. So I had to splice into the wire to extend it slightly, but 7m isn't too bad for a cable that's supposed to be 30cm from the TV.
Sound - overall impressed, there are some ajustments that can be made to the subwoofer output to help keep it out of the "boom, boom, boom" levels which I've found very effective. Speakers are small, and effective overall.
Picture - upscale to 1080p (or 720p, or 1080i), looks excellent, and is breathing new life into my DVD collection. Blacks look very black on the Panasonic plasma, even in a very dark room.
Plenty of other features like the FM radio, and digital sound feed from the TV into the unit etc. Cables - as mentioned, look on Amazon for HDMI / audio / video cables, I've been using Fisual cables - excellent value, very thick cables, low, low price.
Overall, very impressed with the Panasonic. Does the job well.

EXCELLENT SOUND BUT HAS LIMITATIONS
I echo other reviews here, I am delighted with this system. It is easy to set up and install, cable lengths are adequate in my opinion for most average size living rooms. If you have a large room and intend to distance the speakers beyong 'average' then you may need to think again.
The ipod works great and sounds good too, and you can control the music on your tv screen via the remote.
if you're playing 5.1 DTS, this system is not compatible. To play DTS you need to amend a setting (easy) and the sound will be converted. It still sounds great though and you get the 5.1 effect, so no big issue perhaps.
It looks great, solidly built, easy to use and sounds wonderful

Best value for money home cinema system
So the speakers are hard wired and you may need to extend the cabling on the 2 rear speakers - but that's all!
This system delivers a thunderous sound even in quite a large room. Try watching Band of Brothers DVD. You'll think you are in WW2.
I have 2 small criticisms - which is why it doesn't get 5 stars.
1. there is no remote eject on the controller. You have to press the button on the machine.
2. The manual is appalling! They make what is actually a very easy unit to set up, sound as though you need a degree in electronics to get it to work.
But don't let these 2 niggles put you off. It's fantastic.
