cable length problems?
excellent picture and sound, if your having worries about the length of the rear speaker cable then maybe if you can afford a little more you should look into the panasonic sc-pt467, its exactly the same system but with wireless rear speakers!

Brilliant
An excellent product, does everything it says on the package.
I suggest anyone considering purchasing this product, ignore all the nit picking reviews complaining about cable lengths etc.
The cables are an adequate length, but if you do need to extend them then simply cut the cable, add an extension by twisting the wires together or better still using a suitable low impedance connector.
Dont let these negative reviews put you off purchasing. Read all the reviews about how good the sound quality is, lets face it, that is why you are buying it.

Very, very impressive
Just installed one of these to go with a new Panasonic panel.
First of all the bad news:- the cables are meagre and like lots of other reviewers I have had to splice the rear speaker cables to fit my room. This is not exactly a technically demanding job, more of an irritation, and there is no obviously adverse affect on sound quality; the instructions and remote are frankly confusing and it took me several hours of trial and error to begin to understand what this machine is capable of doing.
Now for the good stuff. The thing looks much better in the flesh than it does in any illustration I've seen, the speakers are small and unobtrusive and have a reassuring weight and solidity about them. Most importantly the sound is amazing. I only paid £150 for my kit and it amazes me how they can pack so much sheer quality into this package at this price. The bass literally makes the floor vibrate. The DVD has a one button quick start function and the image quality really does make me wonder if it's worth bothering with blu-ray. It does wonders with non-Dolby t.v. sound, although this is where the confusing bit comes into play with buttons that operate several functions in a much less than intuitive way. But persevere with it, your patience will be rewarded.
In summary, one of the best toys I have ever bought, amazing value for money.
No self-respecting large panel should be without one!!!

i have one
i have to say amazing sound/picture on this player.
connected up sky+ as well, and although not getting full 5.1 on everything i watch, it will definately do!!
speaker wire length is fine 4 me, no problem at all. got both my rear speakers at either side of my sofa at rear of the room with wires under carpet no problem.
i only gave it a 4/5 cos today realised it doesnt play DIVX. despite all reviews i've read stating it does.
i have tried a few of my dvdr's i have and none work. baring in mind i have over 300 divx dvds that are now useless......
not tried the USB port for divx so may be ok....

For my smallish room these were the perfect buy!
OK I've bought this home cinema set in the last few days from one of the electronics stores near where I live and I have to say for me it was the perfect buy!
I wanted a system for my fairly small room (bedroom) to go with a new tv and to get the 5.1 sound out of the xbox 360 I own. Being a relative newcomer to home cinema systems I found that to get surround sound on my tv and console i would require a system with digital optical cabling and research brought me to this piece of equipment as the best value for money system in its range.
I will say now that I am 100% satisfied with this product! The digital optical cabling (which isn't included in the box but I already had some so no cost for me) allows me to get 5.1 surround sound from both my tv and xbox which was my main motivation for purchasing, it comes with an HDMI port as well as scart connectors which is my primary connector as well as HD upscaling and a wide range of file extensions (such as mp3's, the ipod dock etc.)
When using the system, the sound is crisp and clear on mine and when linked in to my xbox it gives games such as cod4 a real visceral sound as if your really there and with 1000w behind the system it really brings films to life too!! music, films, games etc. all sound really good on the panasonic and the DVD player is a nifty addition with all the little features it has on it to explore.
Having read through this it seems some people have had problems with the cable length. Again this is more dependent on individual needs but in my room they are perfectly adequate for the length provided (about 5m for the rear speakers I believe) and I still have a fair amount of cable in slack. Of course if you have the cash spare you could fork out extra and get the next model up with wireless rear speakers.
So basically if your looking for a home cinema system for use in a small to medium sized room or are looking for a crisp, clear sound then this is the system for you. It is perfect for those looking for a system to use with a console as well! I give it 4 out of 5 stars and would give it the full five if it came with all the cables included which in my opinion is the only downside I have had with this product so far...
