fantastic

(5 out of 5) by Lara on Feb 8, 2009 (manchester UK)
After reading some of the reviews i was a little unsure whether to buy this camera, But it seemed to tick all the boxes for my needs. I am so glad I did. It is very easy to use small fits nicely in pockets for speed of use, which is useful with having 2 small children. I have no problems whatsoever with with a line across the screen. It has many differant features including taking pictures in black & white. All in all if your looking for a camera which points and shoots, with high quality pictures and a reasonable price this is excellent.

Fujifilm FinePix F100fd

(4 out of 5) by REMPS on Feb 1, 2009
Very good performer with intuitive controls and much improved zoom control.
Macro focussing is so good I even use it like a magnifying glass to help identify badly worn silver marks!
Only two possible 'down sides'noticed after several month's use.
1/ The battery must be removed for charging.
2/ The automatic lens cover does not appear to be very sturdy.
The first is only a niggle, but the second may become a problem in time.
Still, so far, a highly recommended buy.

Fine quality camera but you can get smaller

(5 out of 5) by Dr. Michael J. Cross on Mar 20, 2009 (Reading, UK)
We were captured by the appearance of the Panasonic range of cameras but couldn't decide because of all the variants.

We wanted small, zoom and quality, and that's always going to be a compromise.

Became thoroughly tired reading all the reviews for the Canon, Panasonic and others but finally decided on the Fuji because of all-round excellence although you don't normally need 12 megapixels.

Since purchasing it have discovered that you can get an adequate camera that is even smaller (eg the Casio), and once the Fuji is in it's case, it only just goes into my shorts pocket.

But it's wide angle, takes quality photos, and is versatile and reasonably quick to use. The menu system, though criticised by experts, appears to be quite adequate. The zoom is a bit wobbly and difficult to position, but I would not be without it for getting your subject fully into the frame.

If you're going anywhere where you might damage the camera, it costs too much to risk. On the cruise we've just been on, 10% of the 3,000 people on the ship replaced their cameras during the 5-day cruise because what they already owned was too old, or because they dropped the one they had during the holiday or got sea water into it and killed it. So small cameras get abused and perhaps you should keep the cost down by buying a cheaper one.

But we look after our cameras, want the best image we can get, use images on our charity's website, and want the camera to last until it becomes technically outdated. So we went for a very good camera and have not been disappointed.
