better than average at higher asa settings

(5 out of 5) by John Davis on Jul 25, 2009 (Fife, UK)
I bought this for my girlfriend to use on holiday based on other reviewers' comments. It seemed like a beginner friendly camera plus it was quite slim (not quite as slim as suggested in the illustration - the back has a raised panel).
In practice the camera was very straightforward to use both for myself and my girlfriend. I own a couple of Panasonic cameras both of which have optical image stabilisers, something lacking in the Fuji. What the Fuji does have is the ability to change the asa rating up to 1600asa, whereas the Panasonics only go up to 400asa (but practically only 200asa as the noise at 400asa is intrusive). This means that the Fuji can keep the shutter speed higher, because whilst the Panasonic image stabiliser is excellent and will let you handhold at 1/8 second, that often means little if the subject matter moves during the shot.
Back to the review; I was very pleased with the lens sharpnesss and image quality both of which would have been acceptable from a more expensive camera.
The camera has a relatively modest specification but works very well and for this reason I'm giving it full marks.

Shocking Camera very frustrating, help required.

(1 out of 5) by G. West on Jul 25, 2009 (UK)
Well i bought this camera on the back of all these good reviews and the decent price and admittly it is a good, easy to use camera... when it works.

Sometimes, not all the time, when you look back through pictures very appear fine then a second later they go blurry. I've tried an all manner of diffrant settings and positions to try and work out the cause but it just seems so random. The final straw was when I took some decent photos at a wedding this weekend and half them have gone blurry and then when trying to copy them to the computer the computer freezes.

Its sooo frustrating, please don't buy this camera.

If anyone thinks they know what I'm doing wrong and can help me out that would be fantastic.

viewed the product, put in my order with the usual "it could take 5 - 7 days" which meant it could come after the event I was ordering for -- nice surprise it came 2 days later - 3 days before the Event. I am getting to know the camera - different than my old one - but no probs
