Wow. Shove Your Ipod's Up Your Ass, Cos The Walkman's Out =]

(5 out of 5) by M. Millward on May 14, 2008 (Hampshire, UK)
I wanted to get a new mp3 player as my phone was limiting me to just a few songs and as I HATE Ipods and believe quite frankly they are taking over the world and dumb consumers jump at the idea of a crappy swirly circle. This new Walkman is exactly what I wanted, it has exactly what the ipod nano has to offer but with a bigger and better screen, bluetooth, a sleeker design and much better sound quality. The only thing Ipods beat the walkman on, is the crappy little games they have.

If you need a new mp3 player, or if you've finally realised how crap Ipods really are, then get this now =]

Make the right choice ;]

All about the sound

(5 out of 5) by Mr. RJ FLATT on Sep 29, 2008 (Bungay, ENGLAND)
Firstly, the most important thing when considering buying an mp3 player...what does it sound like? This player is without doubt the best sounding mp3 player on the market. The supplied in-ear headphones are excellent and manage to provide truly exceptional sound with a lot of bass. The also supplied bluetooth headphones, while not sounding as good as the in-ear, are still very good in their own right.

The player looks and feels great. While the player may not include extras that some other do, i.e f.m radio, playlists on the go (they have to be created on computer and downloaded onto player), what it does do it does very well. The menu's are all very intuitive and it is easy to navigate around the various functions of the player.

Along with the sound quality, another big selling point is the battery life. 36 hours for music and 11 for video. These times are reduced however if using the bluetooth headphones.

The player supports drag and drop, but will also work with other software apps such as windows media player or media monkey.

All in all, if you are in the market for a new mp3 player, then you would be a fool not to consider this sony player.

The return of the Sony WALKMAN!

(5 out of 5) by James Lee on Jul 5, 2008
Guess what I received the day before my birthday? Well, actually quite a lot of things really but one gadget stood out above the rest. As always Sony make top quality products. I've downloaded my entire music collection to this nifty little thing and my entire picture collection, too.

On to the player then. It looks absolutely fantastic! Way, way better than those iPods some silly people might have. This is the top of the range and it's what we call the creme de la creme. Just as it looks as though the PSP wouldn't fit in the pocket, THIS is the best!

Video playback, photo viewing and music playing is a snap, I mean you wouldn't be able to find another player like this one and with 8GB memory and up to 36hrs of battery life, there is no end to the fun you can have with this. This has an elegant design as well. Gone are the days of wearing a music player on your arm and you get a superb little iPod beater.

Charging the thing is as easy as one-two-three. Just simply plug it into the USB port(s) on either your PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 2 or laptop or desktop computer and you're away to having the maximum amount of fun that you enjoy.

The surround options are awesome as well. In all there are seven options: 'None', 'Studio', 'Live', 'Club', 'Arena', 'Matrix' and finally, 'Karaoke'. The crystal clear sound quality is brilliant and you have the option of viewing your photos either horizontally or vertically.

But I'll tell you that, if you're running Windows Vista, you'll already have Windows Media Player pre-installed. Windows Media Player is essentially the easiest way to transfer your music. If you have a playlist just simply drag and drop on to the 'Sync' list. Then click on 'Review Sync' and after that click 'Start Sync'. Syncing has never been quicker or easier to do. Video converting is a little more complexed than music and photo transferring. I downloaded a video comverter, whoch is really neat. There is something called 'Trial Version' in the middle of the screen but that's the software not the video. I've now got fifteen videos on it and I must say I am very impressed indeed.

iPods really are bad compared to this little B-E-A-Uty! The USB cable looks brilliant as well. I also got a stand and case for it to add to the Sony effect. In my opinion, generally, those geniuses over at Sony HQ, Japan have played their 'Top Trumps' cards in making this nifty device.

The Wireless Bluetooth headphones I have managed to get working and I'll tell you, my fellow Amazon shoppers and Sony fanatics that they are so awesome and the player, well, it's a superior gadget that even James Bond himself would want but he's really annoyed because the Q-Branch won't supply one to him. In conclusion, both the player and the Wireless Headphones look oh so great. I even got a cradle and a case for it plus a speaker system, too.

One more thing, iPods, or whatever you might call them these days, are non-existent. WALKMAN is the only way forward.

The return of the Sony WALKMAN has been a successful one by far and I'd personally reccomend this player to anybody! So stop testing the waters and go for the big cheese!

Very disappointed

(3 out of 5) by I. Johnson on Jul 26, 2008 (England)
This little player looks great and is the perfect size for slidine in a shirt pocket. Its so small and light you could forget it is there.
I purchased this only to find problems with the Blutooth connection. The mp3 player would not connect/pair with other bluetooth devices other than the supplied bluetooth headphones.

When I listened to music through the bluetooth headphones the sound quality was poor and the player kept loosing connection with the headphones, meaning the music kept stopping and starting.
I was so disappointed as the concept was excellent.
I ended up using normal wired headphones and the sound quality was excellent.

Battery life was ok, when I had some of the bass boost settings on the battery drained quite quickly, overall the battey performance was average compared with current plyers on the market.

The player itself is very easy to use, transfering data (music, photo's etc) was very quick and easy.
Video playback seemed very smooth, the screen produces sharp images, however it does seem a little bit too small in my opinion.

Without the bluetooth this is just an average mp3 player that does everything you expect. There are no extras such as games or calenders etc. The sound quality through the bluetooth headphones was not very good, I preferred the music through my wired headphones which left me thinking "why did I bother buying this model?" Despite the headphones you dont get a lot of quality kit for your money.

I have obsolutly no brand loyalty etc so ended up returning it and paying a little extra for the i-pod touch.

Nice player, bad headphones

(3 out of 5) by Phillip Chambers on Apr 14, 2009 (Sussex, UK)
If you're planning on buying this player and using your own headphones I would highly recommend it. I syncs with Windows Media Player very nicely, has superb battery life, is easy to use, lightweight and has a nice big screen.

However, the in-ear headphones supplied with it are of poor quality - a problem which only becomes apparent after 2 or so months. I have returned to of these products to Amazon after the headphones have gone fuzzy. I suspect this is something to do with the connection between the wire and the headphone jack.

While the bluetooth headphones are a nifty, lightwieght and reliable piece of kit, I found them to be very uncomfortable after about 20 minutes of wearing them. The sound quality is good though, and they may just not have been suited to my head.

Overall, I would highly rate this mp3 player but would recommend that you purchase a decent pair of headphones separately so make the most of it.
