One Cable Connection?

(3 out of 5) by Cloven Foot on Dec 2, 2008 (UK)
Found that you require more than the HDMI lead to connect to the TV. If you require VHS playback you must also use a SCART lead. The blurb says that the device is REGZA compatible, well it's not.
I have spoken with Toshiba technical support and they have confirmed both these points and indicated that their Website is technically wrong.

The box has a big footprint, so beware of it hanging over the front of shelf.

The box Front Panel display is set way back. If you place the unit on the lowest shelf you may have to get on your knees to read the time:)

RDXV48

(5 out of 5) by G. P.Medals on Mar 12, 2009 (Gloucester)
Looked at various combi's, and this sounded about the best regarding function and value for money as I wanted to put all my old tapes on to DVD. Well I am not disappointed, I found recording to the hard drive first and then getting rid of the rubbish splitting the episodes and giving them separate titles is very good, once you get used to the remote controls, then recording to Disc I found the picture and sound quality was unchanged when i played it back on my laptop; I have not tried to take my film off my video camera yet but don't see too many issues. Initially it is worth keeping the manual close to hand. Without a doubt money well spent.

Excellent Combo!!

(5 out of 5) by V8RST on Mar 12, 2009 (U.K.)
Well having read a few reviews about the product I became aware about the fan noise, but as it has a hard drive like the computer I am typing this on that small amount of noise is to be expected.

Other than that it does what you want it to, and is very good capable product.

I looked around, and could not find a product that does as much as this does at the price you can get this on Amazon!

DVD,VHS,Hard Drive & Freeview + all in one unit means this is a product well worth having.

Mediocre

(3 out of 5) by Jomish on Nov 23, 2008 (UK)
Good points:

- It helped me convert all of my tapes eventually
- Good value for money

Bad points

- When you dub from HDD to DVD it always adds an "EMPTY TITLE" which you cannot delete
- Struggles to dub some VHS tapes. I think it is when you have removed the tab (as I did on my home videos so I did not record over them) AND stops dubbing if the quality is not good enough (not all of my VHS tapes were hence wanting to convert them to DVD)
- Quite a large unit

Great piece of kit

(5 out of 5) by Mr. R. Mcausland on Feb 12, 2009 (Paisley, Scotland)
I bought this player to replace a broken vcr, and it is great - does everything it claims. I am in the process of copying all my old home videos to dvd, and the picture quality is excellent.
The menu system is very easy to follow, and the manual very clear.
I highly recommend it.
