good value printer

(4 out of 5) by Traveller on Aug 21, 2009
Good value colour printer - takes PG40 & CL41 cartridges which are relatively cheap compared to many others. Unfortunately no paper tray, which is can be a nuisance depending on where it is placed.

Quiet, fast, compact and excellent printing

(5 out of 5) by CjW on Aug 21, 2009 (England)
I got the Canon to replace an older HP, the cost was less than the replacement HP cartridges, which doubled in price as they got older.

The difference is- Canon supply their new printers with FULL ink cartridges, not one-third full starter cartridges.

Set-up was guided by a big poster and incredibly easy and it did exactly as it said it was going to.

I did a quick test and the first page was out in seconds, sharp clean and very fast.
It was also notably much much quieter than the HP range.

Its a brilliant low to middle usage machine and I'm very happy with it.

(If you want a high usage machine, the Canon 4300 is more economical for much higher runs, but only just)

Recommended, I also bought 2 more for GP surgeries to print colour stats and graphs and they are very satisfied.

Good value for domestic work

(4 out of 5) by Mr. R. G. Stock on Jul 31, 2009
This printer is extremely good value. The speed is acceptable for domestic use and the B&W quality good - even on the 'fast' setting. Colour quality is much better than I was getting on the Dell printer it replaced - although the default colour balance settings aren't always true and need some adjustment. You can cut down running costs considerably by using remanufactured cartridges - but be aware that Canon have fixed it so it won't let you see how much ink is left in remanufactured cartridges, so you will always need to carry a spare if you don't want to get caught out.

Fine printer for price..

(3 out of 5) by Mr. R. J. Stephens on Apr 17, 2009
WARNING: if you have a new apple mac and use OSX 10.5 or newer you will not be able to use this printer. Cannon have not released a driver for it so you will not find a downloadable driver on the internet also. It works on earlier versions of OSX and on PCs fine though. Otherwise this is an excellent printer for the price.

Canon PIXMA ip2600

(4 out of 5) by A Reader on Feb 14, 2010 (UK)
I am very happy with performance of this printer which is at budget end of pricing and does not have complicated operation. It is not any more noisy than my previous Canon model and it printed out some photos very clearly. The cost of cartridges could be a problem for high usage so I tried a substitute black one but the printer does not recognise the substitute installation and indicated empty after a very short time .I have reverted to Canon cartridges and now do not print anything which is not completely necessary.
