this camera eats batteries, i found the controls/settings a bit confusing
and i'm reasonablied experianced with cameras,it's fairly bulky for a
compact camera.it takes fairly good pics, but theres better cameras out
there around the same money. jackie

Great camera, great value!!

(5 out of 5) by I. Morrison on Jun 26, 2009 (England, East Sussex)
I got this camera as a birthday present from my girlfriend, but I couldn't help myself and looked at how much it cost. I was amazed by the value of this camera! I would recommend this camera to ANYONE! Loads of great features, massive and vibrant LCD screen. I cannot fault this camera in anyway. Buy it now!

Canon Powershot A470

(4 out of 5) by Mr. David Walker on Feb 5, 2009
The camera is great, the customer service from the supplier is absolute garbage, I bought this camera for my daughter as a christmas present, she did not like it ( because it wasn't pink! ) so I tried to contact Pixmania via Amazon, and as yet I still have no reply. I just wanted to exchange it for another camera.

Canon PS A470 v PS80

(4 out of 5) by J. Beech on Jul 23, 2009 (Coventry, England)
My previous camera wasa PS 80, so this review compares the A470 with that. The pictures it takes are fine. However, there are two points about the '470 I don't like. 1) The optical zoom is controlled by the joystick on the back of the camera; the '80 had a lever below the shoot button which was much easier to use. Also the optical zoom feature has to be selected in a menu before you start and it only works after you have depressed the shoot button half way. It isn't mentioned at all in the quick guide. I found it by poking around in the menus. ( I still haven't read the full manual)
2) It does not have an optical viewfinder. Since it is impossible to see what's on the screen in bright sunlight, it is difficult to see what you are aiming at.
I suppose you get what you pay for - the '80 cost me over £300 several years ago this '470 only cost £70 including two large capacity memory cards and two lots of P & P, so I think it is good value for money.
BTW I didn't bother installing the software that came with it. The stuff I already had on the PC worked to download the piccies.

Canon PowerShot A470 Digital Camera - Grey (7.1MP, 3.4xOptical Zoom) 2.5" LCD

Bought for my wife (who technically is barely of the starting line!). An excellent choice, simple to use with excellent picture quality. Price couldn't have been better - Morrisons are selling the same product at £97!
First rate service.
