Canon PowerShot A470 Digital Camera

(5 out of 5) by K. Oram on Jun 9, 2009 (UK)
Wonderful! I purchased this for my 75 year old mother in law. New to the world of computers she was up and running within minutes! Easy to use with just 4 simple settings and anti shake. 7mp with a decent zoom. The camcorder quality is amazing! I work in the ICT Dept of a school and we are purchasing more of these cameras when funding permits!

A470 great point & shoot camera

(4 out of 5) by M. MCGANN on Feb 8, 2009 (Garforth, Yorkshire, England)
previously had the a330 which was also a great camera. the only missing on the a470 from that model is a panoramic option. if there is one apologies to canon but i can't find it on the camera or any mention of one in the manual. this model is far better as there are far more options for lens settings (portrait, night, kids&pets, indoor, sunset, foliage, snow, beach, fireworks, aquarium) apart from the normal manual options. fabulous pictures and video camera is improved from realier models. anyone looking for a good value point & shoot camera, buy this.

Good value for good camera

(5 out of 5) by Owen G. Roberts on Feb 7, 2009 (Berkshire UK)
The is a good camera for the digital beginner. Robust and easily carried. Instruction book will brief you on essential items. More details provided on a support CD.
Supplied memory card of 32MB small and lasted less then 20 pictures/videos. Replaced with SanDisk 2GB which seems ample.
Memory and batteries (AAs) easy to source and change. Easiest way of uploading pictures to PC is to remove card and insert directly into PC.

This camera is outstanding!

(5 out of 5) by C. Goddard-Doyle on Oct 27, 2009
This camera takes lovely pictures, and while it took me a while to find all the modes, I now have.

When this page loads, it will say a new model is available - in fact, I downgraded and found this better.

It is somehow better than a friends camera which is NINE mega-pixels?

I got a case for it off eBay - the official case being very expensive! Just search Canon A470 Case - a cheap one should appear.

While it isn't as compact as all these flimsy 1 centimeter thick cameras that are now available, I believe that this cameras slight chunkiness is a sign it has obviously been well put together, if anything?!

I thought it would be very noticeably thick but it isn't. I've came to the conclusion they must of measured the thickness while the camera is turned on!

If you did not know how, you change the mode by going to the third option as in terms of the modes (i.e., playback mode, auto mode, and MANUAL MODE which is the mode I'm talking about.) Now once your on this mode, click SET, and a menu shall appear down the left hand side - and you can navigate this by using the arrow buttons.)

FIVE OUT OF FIVE STARS - because, it deserves such a good rating!
