Not Quite Ultra Compact but Great Pics

(5 out of 5) by EnglishStudies on May 27, 2008 (UK)
This isn't the slimmest or tiniest compact digital camera, but it's still easily pocketable (jacket, not shirt!) and for the price, produces great pics in a compact form. The screen is a good size and nice and bright and the extra bit on the zoom makes a difference - most of the competition stops at 3x. The colour choice allows a bit of personalisation.

There are an amazing number of presets, but you won't need most of them, and the most important ones are the most accessible. Anyone unused to digital cameras or who is a bit of a technophobe upgrading might find the menus a bit of a fiddle, but for most purposes, they won't be used much.

Pictures are bright and sharp with comparatively little distortion. Colours are bright and zingy - not quite true - but the bit of extra saturation makes them very attractive.

All in all, a bargain little camera.

very strong

(I'm using my mum's account)
The amount of times I've dropped this camera is ridiculous yet the camera has stayed together and still takes amazing pictures.
The flash is a bit dodgy but pictures (especially ones taken outside) turn out really nicely and don't blur (I know this because me and my friends take pictures of us jumping on the trampoline mid air and it doesn't blur AT ALL!!) I've got this camera wet and sandy and have scraped it loads and it still works a treat. It looks great and takes fabulous pictures to treasure!

A great little camera

(5 out of 5) by I. H. C. Mellor on Jan 5, 2009 (Milton Keynes)
I bought this camera for my 11 year old son for Christmas. He thinks it is the 'bee's knees'. It is easy to use, and takes great photos. I like the fact it takes AA batteries and not expensive special batteries. It is chunky and easy to hold which makes it very practical. It is a very reasonable price and looks good. Ideal for anyone wanting a simple, easy to use camera with all the functions, including video, at a very good price.

Grand little camera

(4 out of 5) by M. Taylor on Jul 2, 2009 (Aberdeen)
Great value product - super quality pictures. Plenty of features. Compact and easy to use. Storage media limited and you need to buy a larger version to be able to take a reasonable number of pictures but overall the camera is good value for money.

Another great Canon

(5 out of 5) by J. Pawsey on Jun 9, 2009 (Warwickshire UK)
This camera replaces my much loved A460 recently stolen in a burglary !The replacement was no contest. I'd loved the size, colour & quality of the 460.
I've had Canon's for years going back to a wide angle SLR bought in the early 1990's. The lens quality on this as all the others I have had is excellent. Excellent value a lot of camera for your money. It takes good quaility pictures in most conditions.

I like the larger screen on the 470 and the enhances pixels make for clearer images. It is definately an upgrade.
My only slight niggle is the lack of a conventional look through viewfinder. Sometimes in sunlight it can be difficult to see the image you are framing but I'm sure I will get used to it. We all have to progress as the technology does !

I would reccomend this camera to anyone but keep it safe and insured as I've found it is also very attractive to thieves.
